Hate to do this, but Sunday/Monday may not be too good at The Arc.

On Sunday there's the gold medal game of the Ice Hockey world championships and if yesterday's semi-final attendance is any indication, we're going to be rammed full with Swedes. Monday night is the quiz night and normally all the tables are taken by people participating in the quiz.

If you wanna come any other day during the next week (Tuesday - Thursday) or on following Sunday, then we'll be able to accomodate you without any hassle.

Sorry about that...
Jawn
As The Arc wont work on sunday/monday...

My home is available on Monday if people are willing to travel out Augsburg way. I have 4 or 5 PCs available there as well

or we can go to the rent place near the hauptbahnhof
parnell
Monday is looking good for the combatants ... I can carry out 3 more whipping boys to Augsburg if required however ... but is there any reason why we can't boot up early in the Arc?

If you have your games on a uh ... transferable format then I'm sure we'd all load em up greedily like the hogs we are. Why not join us this weekend ? OINK!

Hehe... I was afraid to suggest "transferable" technology, since some people are edgy about this...
Sure, I'll bring what ever I have (which is not THAT much at all), feel free to transfer what ever you can.
Only remember, that anything from valve, will have to be registered on steam if playing online...

I dont get how can you guys even think of work days for a LAN party?
( How old are you guys anyhow? wink.gif )
If I take the trouble of driving to, and bringing my tower, and 19" monitor, I stay there not less then 6 hours, and usually it all starts not before 21:00 - and thats early!
Even more so if this takes place in an exotic far off, end of the world then left, ~1 h drive one way place like Augsburg wink.gif

So in short, I am game but not during work days (or night before work days) sorry unsure.gif ...
Jawn
Monday is a german public holiday !

A serious LAN party is about 6 to 12 hours and yes goes overnight.
parnell
I don't think some of us have the neccessary DNA for one of those "serious" LAN parties ... start us small lads awright ?

Ooopppssss ph34r.gif

But then Monday night is bad since Tuesday is work day... or is it not?
Besides, this Monday (weather permitting) its Blade night for me...

Again, as long there is no work the day after, I am game - generally speaking.
CodeRed
how about we do SUNDAY evening in Augsburg at Jawn's place until Tuesday morning (whenever)?

I think parnell can give four people a lift, I could take the Honda to Augsburg if more space in the car is needed.
parnell
I PM'd Hazza to ask him if we could head to The Arc before the quiz kicked off. If anyone else has any ideas then now is your chance ... I'
m cool with renting the place close to Hauptbahnhof
CodeRed
also people, lets exchange phone numbers and email addresses via PMs so we can organize this more efficiently next time.
CodeRed
oh shit, jawn said it is only available on monday. sorry bout that. I gotta work Tuesday so cant play thru the night

Sunday night is cool with me.
If this is in Augsburg, I have place for 3 more in the car. (not on sunday, in general)
parnell
Right Sunday is on if Jawn gives the nod. I can bring more in the car - I believe he has pcs there if the need arises so get on board!
Jawn
Checked with the boss.. wont work Sunday afterall, sorry abot the late notice.
Daniel34
So, we are left only with the Hauptbahnhof place... right?
How much was it then? (money)
I lost count - so how many are we for sunday night?
If any of you need help with a car to carry the stuff, raise your hand...
Food and booz is each to his own? or do you have a "system"...
I kind'a like the obligatory midnight pizza... tongue.gif

P.S
Off topic - where can one set a signature for the posts?
I can't find it in the profile options thingie...
jml
D34, unless something has changed, signatures are not allowed.

I'm still good for this , Jawn can we get some details on this ?
Hazza
Sorry guys, can't get the staff in early on Monday.
Jawn
I dont have any details on the Hauptbahnhof location, wasnts there someone else who posted on this?
Daniel34
QUOTE (Nighthawk @ Apr 28 2005, 10:41 am)
We had a CS 1.6 LAN Party on Saturday near the Hauptbahnhof and rented the room for €10 per head if anyone is keen on the the having the address please send a pm.

There is also a password protected server set up for those who fancy doing some practice without having to take on the Internet Profis
*

So Nighthawk - can you feel us on this?
How many were you at that LAN party?
All though I think that now its too late for organizing anything for tonight - right?
Or do you have contact to this place?
Renting is going to make sense only if we are enough people, 10 EU is just about max. what I would be willing to pay... (infact its more then what I would be willing to pay... but hey, I am willing to try anything once... maybe the party will be worth it wink.gif )
parnell
I PM'd nighthawk and he let me know it's a private server - he replied asking how many of us are now in. I don't even know and time is ticking.
Daniel34
Private server??
Are we talking machine, a room/place, or both?
In the mean time something came up for me, so I can't say if I can come tonight...
I wont know before 20:00... sorry... but I was under the impression that a LAN party tonight is a no go anyhow...
I guess you can say I am 50% there (if it will take place)...
CodeRed
Hazza, can we do Thursday at the ARC?

People, who is in for this? 7pm at The Arc.

Games will be for one: Warcraft 3, shooters to be determined, probably CS 1.6 or so

Good thing about WC3 is that it runs on mostly everything and is still a very playable game.
parnell
CodeRed ...
Thank the stars someone else has taken up the mantle ... I'm in , is BigB gonna make it ? That's 3 minimum. Have we got installs of CS 1.6 prepared ? Jawn u alive ? Daniel34 - now's your chance (it's free). Would like to get 6 at this so we can play decent teams - I know that CodeRed has been boning up on his Warcraft 3 so some ownage will likely be required.
Jawn
doing badminton on thursday. I hope to catch you guys again soon but not on a Thursday.
Hazza
Good day might be Sunday. We're going to open early for the Grand Prix, but we don't get a very big crowd for it. People watching the race will be in the front section and you'd all sit where you were last time. You could have all day (from about 2:00pm or so) until we close at 3:00am.

Should be long enough!!
Daniel34
Sorry guys, as I said, can't if I have work the next day...
Next time during a week end...
CodeRed
okay, i am giving up.
parnell
Met Jawn yesterday ... shared dissappointment over last week's non-event - I know CodeRed is good for this week as well ... let me set the scene here - it's Thursday , you're tired from drinkin the night before , your gf/bf is ribbing you that your ass is getting big - you've been taking this shit for too long - rather than ripping his/her eyeballs out with toothpicks for their insolent remarks (because they put you in jail for that these days... don't ask) you decide to get down to the LAN party early to kick some TT booty .
So Thursday early (like 1pm maybe) at a venue to be decided ... who's in ?
z0id
I'm in for Thursday if there's some CS:S or old-school Q3 smile.gif
CodeRed
i'd be in but probably not for the evening.
Daniel34
dito.
parnell
ok , Jawn whats the story m8 , I could cart some of these pups around to Augsburg if that's ok with you ... alternatively we could get onto Nighthawk and try the Hbf location for early Thursday ... everyone ok with €10 per head ?
Daniel34
#define early_Thursday ??? wink.gif
CodeRed
what? the arc doesnt work even DURING the day?
Jawn
Location is one thing but what I really want to know if what game shall we be trying?? I am not a big fan of WC3. I want a first person shooter or a different rt strategy game to play. Either of those and I will be excited about this.

Dito.
How about DOD/CS?
We can also play Battle Field 1942 (the demo version) (I didnt buy the game yet, but thats in the works) (I like the fact you can use all the vihicles... hihi)
parnell
Game choice is not a problem unless there is no way to transfer it across machines.
TexasTornado
Please forgive me the blatant self promotion, however, we at the Twisted Bavrian have a library in the back, WLAN and we can turn the music off in the back room if you want gaming without tunes.
parnell
About time you got here

CodeRed
Thanks TT, this is very welcome (especially since you are AROUND the corner...)

Choice of game IS a problem as not everything runs on my laptop so therefore we do NOT have any choice in FPS. I have never played CS 1.6 but if you guys say it is fun I can install that on the laptop and we can go for that. Battlefield is too complex graphicswise.

Americas Army also runs on my laptop but mine actually has a dedicated graphics card which most do not. So please consider that.
Daniel34
CS is nice, but I think DOD is better (same graphic engine, and its free like CS), since its a bit less hectic, and it "forces" more team play IMHO...
CodeRed
tomorrow looks like its going to be gorgeous so I'd rather not sit inside and play games, I am afraid.
Jawn
EVERYONE,

Ok here is your mission

You must load CounterStrike 1.6 on your laptop and test functionality before May 31.
Upon testing of said CS 1.6 you must report back to the group on wether or not it works for your configuration. If it does not , suggest buying a new laptop.

Confirm you are on target for this deadline via this board

What? a destoyed post will self destruct? tongue.gif

Add to the above post DOD (Day Of Defeat), this will give us more variety, with the same "game base".

However, if thursday is really sunny as today is (or similar) count me out as well...

Cheers
