The home that Adolf Hitler was born in is up for sale. It is priced at 2.2 million euros, but the locals in the Austrian town of Braunau am Inn are worried that Nazi sympathizers would treat is as a shrine.
BBC:
Hitler House Sale Alarms Locals
The sale of Adolf Hitler's family home in the Austrian town of Braunau am Inn has triggered concern that it could become a shrine for Nazi sympathisers. [...] The building is currently used by an organisation helping the disabled and has at various times in its history housed a library, bank and technical institute.

This is surprising considering that the bunker where he died was filled with rubble and covered with a football pitch.

What, should they have restored it and made it into a bunker for disabled kids?

I've got a chunk of Hitler's Berghof but I don't use it for a shrine.

They are not afraid of anything becoming a shrine. The Austrians don't care like the Germans do because they act like they were occupied, rather than merged, with Germany. They also don't bear the embarrassment of losing the war like Germany.
On top of that, they have plenty of Nazi shrines and former SS whom they refuse to prosecute.

I understand it as a media gimmik to sell it at a better price may be.

According to a program I watched last night, there sits a Chinese restaurant and a Kindergarten above it now.

It's just 100 meters or so from the Holocaust monument in Berlin.. Dead easy to find. I saw it on a guided tour years ago.. Was there recently and tagged on to a guided tour. There's nothing there to identify it - except a plaque with some historical info.. Berlin is awesome for walking around and seeing so many significant historical sites - from various periods even.. Roaring 20's, WWII, Cold War, Wall, etc..
