New topic starting form...

ok even to start this thread i've had to click thru about 5 pages, enter keywords, check previous posts for duplicates, then got an error because my topic title did not contain one of the keywords (difference in spelling) so i had to change my thread title. it was all so....draining really.

anyhow - my point is this is all just a pain in the ass. for the love of god, why?

Furthermore, i fear that this new procedure will render poor keydeck jobless. i mean what will he do if this process screens out all duplicate threads. We all know the guy lives to tell some gormless noob to 'use the search function'. its his passion, he loves it. poor keydeck.... what will bring joy into his life now that we have taken away his one true pleasure?

It is a bit cumbersome, but if it reduces the number of unnecessary new threads then I'm all for it. And I have noticed a drop in the number of threads that need keydecking and/or moderating.

All we need now is a cap on the number of new topics a user can start... Jeremy.

This is just as good as any thread to hijack so here we go. Got a pm from editor bob all is well and he is on holliday. I think he said Bagdad and that he got a great deal on a hotel. Those night vision goggles we bought him three xmas back are working very well he said. Also said he picked a few new paper weights and secret santa stocking stuffers.

Oh I like the new system for new topics.

I just wish 'The Local' would start using it.

The way to avoid this form is to start the topic in a classified-adverts forum. Once you've posted the new thread, you can use the "topic move" function under "moderate" to move the topic into the correct forum.
