David Haye gunning for boxing glory- Saturday 7/11 - Berlin

World Heavyweight Title Fight!

male1983
Alright guys,

There is a world heavyweight title fight on Saturday the 7th of November at around 22:30 between David 'haymaker' Haye from England and Nikolay 'the beast from the east' Valuev. It promises to be an explosive encounter and i would love to witness the carnage- live if possible. I was just wondering whether any bars will be showing the fight, or if the bout is available on normal German television as it is being hosted in Nuremburg?

Furthermore, if anyone wants to join me in cheering on Haye in trying to become the first British World Heavyweight Champion since Lennox Lewis, let me know. A knock-out is guaranteed!

Das Erste 2215-0045, looks like it's going to be an interesting fight.

Doh... I just spent 15 quid booking it on Sky Box Office....

should be fun though, looking at Betfair it seems that Haye is the favourite, which I find hard to believe

Me too, talk aboutDavid and Goliath. Haye has only fought 2 fights since stepping up to heavyweight, good luck to the lad. Can't say i'd want to fight the big man but, 23 stone and over 7 feet tall!!.

That David Haye can bang a bit though- he's got a ridiculous KO percentage. However, he's vulnerable to some shots himself. I would'nt say he's got a glass jaw but i don't rate his punch resistance to highly. If that big, lumbering Russian catches him, it's going to be 'curtains'. As they say, 'you can't grow muscles on a chin'. Cheers for your help guys- enjoy the fight!!

So, did anyone locate a bar where the fight is showing? If not, perhaps an apartment. If someone can host, I'll gladly bring drinks of a delicious nature

Hmm depends on where you look. Remember that a bookies is a business like anything else. So if you go to a uk (betfair) website, given that in what should have been perhaps (don't shoot me down here, my opinion only) a 55/45% book then the book where the INDIVIDUAL bookie stands to lose the most will be the shortest price, thus in Uk most people with no idea will back the brit.. i.e. not necessarily the book where the the bookie thinks one or the other party will win. In the early 90's it used to be possible in such fights to back for example the brit in the US (hardly any money for him, thus bigger price) and the US fighter in UK for the same reason and win in total, unless there was draw. Computers changed this a bit, but you will still always get worse prices in a 2 horse race on the UK fighter with a UK bookie. He does not, as previously stated, decifer the stats and so on, at least not deeply, but only looks to see A wins - I win X, B wins I win Z. And then of course laying off comes in to play......

But David your tactics, if not your punching (could have been too little too late with other judges 114/114,) were awesome. Congrats.

BFB i like the flag.Yes get in there he did it.Looking at the stand off i thought he had no chance.Russian is a tall bugger. But he won and that with a broken bone in his hand too.Makes you proud to be British so it does

Good fight dave, well done. Tactically good and i thought he was going to manage the impossible in the final round and put the big man down. How the Spanish judge managed to call a 114-114 draw but is beyond me though. And you also have to consider it's only his 3 fight in this class, which makes it definately a more impressive victory.

The boy done well- he even made the Russian do the 'chicken dance' in the last round!! Now i hope he topples over those Klitschko brothers albeit with better style. That Wladimir is definitely vulnerable to some chin music, however his older sibling is a different kettle of fish. I recall he was giving Lennox lewis a hiding before a huge cut stopped the fight.
