Hello long story short... have been offered a six month contract for ok pay in Berlin.
How easy or hard is it to get a furnished place for just six months to live by myself?
Do landlords want to see a one year work contract? Am already here in Berlin.
Thanks

While they are more expensive than a standard apartment, you'll have no trouble finding a furnished apartment for 6 months. And as far as I know you won't need any kind of work contract for most of the furnished apartments.
See these for example:

Got temporary accommodation for three months in 2007 through these people:

...in a very pleasant part of Schöneberg near Winterfeldtplatz. The place was small, but absolutely spotless.

If you're willing to pay commission, go through http://www.homecompany.de/index.php?sp=en or http://en.coming-home.org/
Otherwise, www.zwischenmiete.de sometimes has furnished places for subletting, or try the sublets section of craigslist - we've got our furnished place from there for 8 months.

Hi there,
My partner and I just moved to Berlin and found that it is more of a pain to get a lease on a flat than to get a sublet. To take over a lease, you need payslips, insurance etc. which we didn't have.
To get a sublet, the rent on which nearly always include all bills, you don't need anything, though sometimes you might have to sign an "Untermietvertrag", which is just a short term contract with the current tenants agreeing to pay the rent etc.
There are a lot of sublets (although many are for a few months, rather than 6). We just got an awesome place until end of March.
Looking at Craig's List is a good idea, though the prices on there are quite inflated compared to http://www.wg-gesucht.de/ (which has an English tab on the top RHS of the page). New places come up on wg.gesucht every day.
Don't be discouraged by ads that are in German either - we just put them into google translate, composed messages in English, put THEM through Google translate and sent them through. Most people responded in English but we politely asked first. Make sure you choose the right category as well (apartment, flastshare etc) or you'll get stuff coming up that you don't want.
Hope that helps!
