Tips on getting a visa so I can stay in Germany

Numbers to call or personal experiences

ryantschetter
Hello!

I just moved to Berlin from the states and am finding it hard to track down the right person to get help with my visa. I was thinking that I'd get a student visa and study German language. I need something fast because my 3 month stay here will end in Dec and I need my visa to start in Dec. I've talked to, what seems, like a million people who direct me to someone. Then that someone directs me to someone else and so on and so on. I can't seem to get one person that can help.

Any suggestions or tips? Anything would be helpful.

Thanks,
Ryan

I'm sorry I don't think I worded that very well.

I know who to call. I have the correct numbers and I need to make an appointment; however whenever I call no one answers. The woman who gave me the info also works for the Aliens office and directed me to the department that deals with student visas and said that I'd need to make an appointment. I've been calling all day but no one seems to pick up. So my question better stated would be, does anyone know of other numbers or advise on making an appointment when you can't get a hold of them? Any other experiences of not getting through and if so what did you do to finally get through?

Everyone has been really nice and sweet I just can't seem to get an answer in the student visa department....

Look what I found here:

Notice for students: We are no longer able to give definite appointments at short notice to students wanting a residency permit in order to study or wishing to extend their permit in preparation for studying. Due to the high demand, appointment scheduling is only available on an exceptional basis and only after a waiting period of 6 to 8 weeks. Please use the opportunity to visit without an appointment during our opening times.
We will try our best to serve you during your visit and extend your residency permit.
So just show up and get in line. Bring a book and something to drink. Good luck!

Try War & Peace or maybe Lord of the Rings.......

I've read all the Lord of the Ring books, although it's been awhile ago but I've never read War and Peace. I'll check it out. I just finished A Cather in the Rye...loved it! It was one of those books that you're so familiar with from hearing it's title over and over but never read. Finally read it and it was great. Right now I'm reading The Road and after that Revolutionary Road, as someone suggested that one as well.
