Do you sign in anonymously?

Reasons for being invisible.

It has been mentioned that more and more people are signing in anonymously. I read tonight that some think it is connected to the ratings.

I fail to see the connection. I sign in anonymously mainly because I don't think anyone needs to know what I am reading/doing at the moment.

What do you think?

I've always liked the stealth bomber approach.

5 User(s) are reading this topic
0 members, 0 guests, 5 anonymous users

This never happened when the rating system did not exist.
Most users were always named. Now just the opposite occurs.

Those that sign in anonomously have something to hide or someone to fear!

I didn't vote in this poll because I couldn't do it anonymously

Yes, I choose to be nameless and cloaked with invisibility at times. My identity is not known unless I choose to make it known. My messages at these chosen times will not be carried over the network to recipients under my chosen name, but as a pseudonym aka anonymous, stripped of monikers, nicknames and numbers and long-term relationships. I am 'Pseudonymous'. Yea!

I always log in anonymously. Years ago when I was one of the top posters I had a couple people stalk me from topic to topic after some heated discussions. After that I started logging in anonymously, and I've just done it out of habit ever since.

I do it for the same reason as IPJ. It also cuts down on unsolicited PMs, which I got more than a few of after having my name appear at the bottom of some adult chat topics. Has nothing to do with the ratings system in my case.

I've never used anonymous sign in, but will often not sign to read the threads, then sign in when I want to post. The only things you can't see are adult (which I rarely read) and supporters (haven't paid that yet, but will soon).

The issue has been discussed before, starting long before there was a ratings system. I haven't noticed any increase in the proportion of people logged in anonymously.

If anyone had kept up an analysis of [url=http://www.toytowngermany.com/xtra/stats/members/]this page, then we'd know. It only shows the last 12 hours though, so at the moment it's 501 users, 90 of them are anonymous.

Then the forum index page has statistics at the bottom too: currently

444 active users (in the past 15 minutes)
114 members, 309 guests, 21 anonymous users

Anyone want to make up a few charts? You'll have to wait for your data though.

Lots of guests there, and guests cannot rate. Plus a factor of 5:1 signed in to anonymous, from what I recall no great change to pre-rating times.

Or they just have a small cock and enjoy the feeling of superiority and power that signing in anonymously apparently offers!
Katrina
I have a small cock? Good to know.

Signing in anonymously cuts the amount of unsolicited PMs I get by quite some measure. It's why I use the function.

Not the old stalker routine is it?
Katrina
Not so much these days, it's more folk who ask me something directly about where to do/buy/find/etc. in Munich/Germany rather than starting a new thread.
As answering such mails wasn't terribly fun, going anonymous meant fewer such mails, it's the "Oh well, you were online anyway..."
And how anonymous can you be when you post under your real name anyway?
