I have recently started driving again (being the fat, wasteful and lazy Ami that I am) and I have been amazed by my revelation that ganz München is a construction site. It seems that everywhere I go the road is halfway blocked off for some purpose. The Mittlerer Ring, Shellingstr., Schleissheimerstr. etc. - all construction sites - and a lot of other streets.
The other day I was in a taxi with my coworkers and the taxi driver was bitching about it too - he said that they need 10 years to complete the whole project on the Mittlerer Ring. What's going on here? Why are there so many construction sites and why does it take so long for them to finish working?

Because you can't close down the whole street for construction work. Work always takes longer when you have to keep traffic going.

if you don't like it, take the train
Was taking the train...and the bus, and another bus. Took a lot longer and with a dog and stuff in tow not very easy. Also, had to fight the hoardes of school kids to even get ON the train...but still that's no excuse! As I said, fat, lazy and wasteful Ami - just trying to meet the stereotype!
the way to the airport drives me mad...it's always been under construction.
and then they decided to put the new footie stadium there en route so there's been even more construction work going on. it really is never ending.
