Last Thursday (that was 30th Oct) I decided I wanted KFC for dinner and went there after work (7pm).

I ordered my finger licking meal and sat somewhere near the main entrance to eat it.

About 5 minutes into my meal, this dirty smelly unbathed tramp with matted hair in filthy dirty clothes and all his belonmging in plasic bags entered the restaurant. He put his bags down, and started foraging through the returned trays for left-overs. And after a few minutes, he managed scavange a meal and drink, and I thought that would be it, and he'd leave the restaurant.

But noooooooo!!!, he then went to look for a seat in the restaurant, sat down and dined. Even the staff there did not ask him to leave.

This has really put me off eating at that establishment now. And I want to know why the staff did not chuck him out, surly this is bad for business.

Isn't what they serve at KFC enough to keep you away in the first place?

...and don't call me surly!

Look mate, if you were so offended by me eating there, you could have come up to me yourself and told me...

So by not throwing him out they have less work, avoid getting into an argument with a bum and still make the same money? Sounds like a good deal.

Did they happen to have signs hanging that read, “It is required that you bathe and wear fresh/clean attire before entering our KFC?” I understand that you wanted to enjoy your meal at the KFC, without the unpleasant odor, and odd behaviour of a hungry and homeless person. Thank goodness, he was able to find something to eat and get out of the cold for a few minutes. Here’s a different perspective. He comes into the KFC; you see that he’s hungry and homeless. You offer to buy him a meal, find a place for him to sit, and bear the smell for a few minutes. You also offer him a few dollars to buy a meal later during the day. When it’s all over, you leave the restaurant, knowing that you have helped someone in need.

I should have known better, one should always expect minimal sympathy from TT

Regarding a story where the cast of characters include a homeless person, someone working at a fast food restaurant and an international traveller, sympathies will generally be assigned in that order.

How should you expect sympathy? You are a middle (or upper middle) class citizen with a home, warm clothes, and money to buy food. You couldn't put up with a minor inconvenience for a few minutes to allow this poor man to come in out of the freezing temperatures and scavenge for food in the trash cans? If that image didn't garner "minimal sympathy" from you, I can hardly see how you expect any from other people for as stupid and selfish a situation as you are presenting here.

Why Did you not leave the restaurant ( if you were that offended) or even have the decency to slip him a few euro or buy him a fresh meal?
Chocky
Quite simple really, if you eat shit food in shit eating establishments, you shouldn't be surprised when stuff like this happens. I was in McDonalds in Brixton a few years ago after a boozy night out, when a homeless crackhead walked in, pulled her pants down, and urinated right in front of the order area. Loving it!

You could have posted on the Vent. That's a non-chat topic.

Make that: " ..., the homeless should always expect minimal sympathy from Flapdoll" ...

I don't know, this is the first time the OP goes to KFC? These are not really fine restaurants you know. The staff probably didn't chuck him out because they make no money and don't really care and who knows, maybe he's a good customer and actually buys stuff there when he has money. If you'd like to eat in a finer restaurant then go and do that. You'll have to pay more but you'll probably not be seated next to a homeless person who is dining on other peoples leftovers. Another option, if you actually like KFC food, get it to go.

sympathy for what?
