Hi all, I've done a couple of searches and can't find anything similar so am posting this in the hope that it might catch the eye of Starshollow or someone else with knowledge of the legislation.
I've been back in the UK for the last 6 weeks dealing with family health issues. It now looks increasingly likely that I'll need to remain UK based for the forseeable future.
Amongst the long lists of things going through my head is the cancellation of my German health insurance - the contract is home in Germany so I can't read up on the specifics and my useful German husband is in Korea and not easily contactable.
I'm insured with IKK Suedwest. I swapped to them earlier this year and I have no idea if the contract is time-limited or open-ended. If I leave Germany officially - Abmeldung - will this allow me to cancel my health insurance with a reasonable notice period or would I be held to whatever term the contract was initially set to run for?
Apologies if I've missed out any useful/necessary data. Things here are a tad fraught - it's been so long since I've been in the UK for any length of time that I feel like a foreigner here. Compound that with the family problems and missing husband and it feels like my brain is set on a never-ending washing machine spin cycle.
D
