Hi guys,
Just wondering, if anybody knew, if there are any Irish pubs, or english-speaking pubs (English, Australia, etc) for that matter, in Rostock?

I tried that new-fangled search-engine thingy they told me is all the rage on the internet these days and bless my old soul it told me that there is such a thing in Rostock! It doesn't say if it's owned by real Pixies though or if it's mock Irish.

yeah, those new-fangled search engines are really funny things aren't they? Because I wouldn't have looked it up before posing a question would I? I did, actually, look it up in a guide book and on the net before I posted, but the places that came up have either closed since, or are not what I was looking for - one was an irish themed restaurant which was not going to show Ireland matches for example. So I was just asking the locals if they knew of somewhere..is there something wrong with Mr. Nosey? What is your problem ffs?

Hi DanielF,
The only Irish pub I know of here in Rostock is the Shamrock and here is the link to their address: http://www.qype.com/place/334872-The-Shamrock-Rostock. I haven't been there in a while but really did enjoy it when I did have the chance to stop by. The previous owner was Irish and a great guy, but now I have no idea who is running it. Other than that, I haven't heard of any other Irish pubs or any place where they speak English. Sorry. But, if you ever do hear of one, please pass on the info, and I will do the same.

Daniel, many people who post such questions are in fact too lazy or dumb to simply search for information themselves. They would rather be spoonfed the information than do a little research themselves. If you just mention that you've checked various sites & guidebooks when you pose your question then such issues would be easily averted.

I also had been to The Shamrock before the owner changed. Was ok, but the owner was Irish. I heard it is different now.
I found an Old English pub when searching but I know nothing about it.

For where the Shamrock is, I have found about 4 different names....funny....

As Keydeck already said, we get a fair number of posts asking for the obvious or seemingly from people who couldn't be arsed to do a quick search themselves. On first reading, your post seemed to fit that mould because there was no indication that you'd done any searching yourself. Nevertheless, you're right, I was having a bit of a bad morning. *Offers hand to shake*

@amber and texas, thanks for that, if I find out more I will post it up, cheers.
@keydeck, ok, maybe in future I will make it explicitly clear that Iam not asking other people to do my work for me, but at the same time, I did not ask anybody to look up the net for me - that would be stupid, as I could do it myself? Why would I expect ppl to go to that extra work for me, especially when I could do it myself? It was just assumed that I had not. I'm in the wrong?
If you feel strongly about it why not ignore it, or better ask me if I had looked it up the net, as opposed to declaring that I am already some sort of lazy asshole. And don't look it for me and present it to me then. I just find it annoying, when I ask a reasonable question, for assumptions about and criticisms of me to be made, based on nothing to do with my post. What is so wrong with asking a simple question? He is in the wrong, for making a false assumption.
Maybe ppl will think this statement is unreasonable, but if they do, they can just go fuck themselves.
Edit: Ok, Mr Nosey, I'll shake your hand.
(I do have a problem the way I am not in the wrong here, yet I am the one getting marked down in brownie points, while the person who IMO was, tho I have made my peace with them now and it's ok, did not. This is not directed to anyone writing on this forum, but the people who marked here - what a bunch of wankers.)

Don't know any in Rostock, but there's one in Kühlungsborn. Never been in there, and from the outside it looks like a mock-Irish pub, and I doubt they'll show Ireland matches.
Not very helpful really - I may as well have just told you to Google it
