A small English playgroup meeting Saturday mornings is seeking a few children aged between 2 and 3. We combine some (more or less ) structured activities such as singing songs, movement games and reading aloud with some free play, using the premises of a small kindergarten. The parents provide the play elements in rotation and we have a lot of fun! We have an older subgroup (4 to 6) and a younger subgroup (2 to 3): we begin and end the sessions all together but split the two groups up for the main part so as to provide "altersgerechte" activities and focus. The older subgroup is filled to capacity at the moment but we are seeking two or three more kids in the younger subgroup (aged 2-3).
We are looking for kids who have at least one native-English-speaking parent and thus already a good understanding of English. It's not required that the child should speak English all the time (most kids who grow up here speak German as "default setting") but all the activities are in English and we aim to activate and support the kids' English skills. The parent(s) should enjoy interacting with children - getting down on hands and knees, so to speak...
Ideally we’re looking for families who live relatively close, i.e. Kreuzberg 36, Alt-Treptow.
Please, no children younger than 2 - the needs of the group would then be too varied.
If you're interested please contact me by PN and I'll then mail or call you back (I'll be away between 4 and 8 November).
Regards,
Giles
PS. At the start of the year I was planning to set up a playgroup and I posted a few times about this. In the end this idea didn't work out directly; this thread is about a different group which I joined in August. I talked to a few people at the time about the planned project but I then failed to pursue the contacts. My apologies for this.
