Fully functioning grenade left in cinema sparks investigation - Germany

A cleaning lady working at a cinema got the fright of her life when she picked up a paper napkin from a seat and found it was wrapped around a hand grenade.

The authorities evacuated around 800 guests still watching films in other parts of the Düsseldorf multiplex cinema after the cleaning lady and the security guard she took the grenade to, alerted the police.

Examination of the grenade showed it to be completely functional, although it still had the pin inserted, and would not have spontaneously exploded, according to a report in Stern magazine.

Is that a photo of the actual grenade? The writing looks Russian...perhaps some Russian mafia goon left it behind.

The grenade pictured is a Yugoslavian M52P3 "Fragmentation" grenade.
This could have injured/killed several people had it detonated, good thing it was found by the proper personnel and by now is hopefully deactivated.

hehe, a yugoslav frag grenade? I'd be amazed if the thing even worked... either that, or you'd have like 1 sec after spoon release before....BOOM! (btw, what kind of old school, hollywood, pseudo-Pineapple design is that??)

The color of the grenade is green.

The grenade appears to have a brass ring.

The grenade you see is not the actual grenade. In fact, it's not a grenade at all. It's an avocado with some metal bits stuck into it.

The grenade pictured probably isn't the one found! Though it does appear to have yellow writing
