Holiday with a Small baby - Recommendation? - Germany

Hello,

I'd like to take by Wife and baby daughter on a long weekend trip for my wife's birthday next month. Now I know that travel with a baby can be stressful and we need to carry load of stuff, but it should all fit in the car. I hope we can find a friendly hotel in South Germany, North Switzerland or NW Austria, perhaps with a bit of a "wellness" area and facilities to help us relax as much as possible with baby.

Has anyone any recommendations of where to go?

the long threads are mostly rants about how much of a holiday it would be and why fathers can't be left to look after baby while mothers go to the riviera, or summat like that.

Anyone with any recommendations where to go based on actual real life experience?

Have you ever been to the Alpenhof in Murnau? (Can't provide links from this PC, sorry.) It's not a family hotel as such but we were there with our (school-age) children this summer and absolutely loved it - it's expensive but worth it, so if your weekend is supposed to be a treat for the family it might be a possibility (they have special offers, too). Indoor (and outdoor) pool, spa, great food, terrific service (yes, really!) - I wish I could go back right now.

My brother-in-law took his wife and their baby to Ulrichshof a few years back and said good things about it. I see from their Web site that they were recently voted the top "family hotel" by GeoSaison.

In Austria try the organization "Urlaub am Bauernhof." Some of the locations have facilities for babies (such as cribs) and they are throughout Austria.
