Live in, love and leave Munich

Did you do this also?

I would like to hear from those who lived, (loved?), and left Munich...

After 8 years in Munich I found it a town that I could no longer endure, yet nor could I depart from. Now that my wife and I re-settled in Ludwigsburg (since September 2004) I find myself fairly neutral towards my old haunts. Sure there are places and things I miss (certain cafes, my favorite Indian restaurant, breakfast in the inner court of the Glyptotek, softball in the English Garten on Sundays), but all in all with two small children to raise I am relived to out of the stress of a small city.
Ah, but when I visit for a weekend for the first hour I always ask myself why did we leave the noble city!? But then a few hours later I remember why. Anyone else out there that left Munich after a long stay? How was it for you?

I think theres quite a few lurkers out there as well as posters that fit your category. Im an in-betweener myself, I'm in and out enough times (for long enough stretches) that I get that happy to leave/happy to come back feeling just about every time.

i "left" in that i was one assignment in the UK for 12 months and the weekends i spend here were spend sleeping (not much time for sleep during the week when you have a car factory to set up), so i didn't actually "live" Munich during that time. After my assignment finished, i realised just what i had been missing. I love Munich now much more than before my assignment.

Ditto as jml. We just take different flights (usually the same week though) wink.gif
