The husband has been armed with a bit of information about nutrition and as the saying goes, that's a dangerous thing. I'd like to get him (and in the process, myself) a decent book on nutrition so he can become more informed. I'm not looking so much for a diet-to-lose-weight book, more general about how diet can affect health if that makes sense. I'm sure a lot of you have read books in this genre and can recommend some for me. If you don't mind, please include why you think it's worth reading to help me make a short list. Looking forward to the results, thanks!

Somebody moved this to Cooking, which is fine by me, although I don't really think it really fits under cooking. Anyways, any ideas?

I would recommend a book by nutritionist Oz Garcia. He has several out, but the one I own is "The High Tech Body" and he talks a lot about nutrition. Also there is the Abs Diet series by David Zinczenko... these books are a good guideline for sports nutrition and healthy eating. Hope that helps!

Here's an interesting book I bought recently
http://www.amazon.com/Nourishing-Traditions-Challenges-Politically-Dictocrats/dp/0967089735
It is based on the work of Dr Weston Price who travelled the world to see what traditional societies, which do/did not suffer our western degenerative diseases, ate.
The book is full of recipes and loads of information. It really is an education.

Read The China Study by Dr. T. Colin Campbell. http://www.thechinastudy.com/about.html
I think this is definitely worth getting to learn how plant-based nutrition is best for preventing disease.
