Hello folks!!
I am asking this for my boyfriend actually, he is a huge soccer fan and used to play it every weekend in san francisco. But we have not been able to figure out if there is any place here, a park or something, where guys can play fussbal on the weekends. Any suggestions would be very helpful!!!
THANK YOU! biggrin.gif

Hi Katja,

You/your boyfriend should check out the Munich Irish Rovers: www.mirfc.de

they play in real leagues here in Munich, training wed and fri evenings, and games usually on sundays.

Members inc. Irish, British, American, Chinese, Dutch and even a German!

Please note that its not a kick around in the park, taken slightly more seriously, but still good fun.

Sadly, there is no Farolito or Whix-wit here, for after-game bingeing. Nor is there a Mad Dog in the Fog, or Zeitgeist, or Lucky 13. Ah... but I digress.

I see lots of small groups in the english garden on weekends, and Im sure there are Toy-towners who do the meetup and play thing as well, if he's looking for just a simple get-together and play. I guess it depends on the level he wants.

Hi Katja,

Behind the institute I study in there's a large grass field where some people I know play football twice a week, on Wednesdays, and as I recently found out, on Saturdays as well. Wednesdays is usually packed because of all the people heading there straight from work, but I was there last Saturday and there were 10 of us. I'm sure they wouldn't mind other people joining in.

Problem is it's a bit far away from the center, it's behind the Max-Planck Institute in Martinsried (adress: Am Klopferspitz 18 Planegg for hot-maps.de). Take the U-6 all the way to Klinikum Grosshadern and from there the path that goes through the "woods" (ridiculous...) towards the Biologische Zentrum, then a wee bit up the road until you see the institute. The field would be directly behind it. You can also take bus no. 266 from Grosshadern in Richtung Planegg, it stops right in front of the place.

Saturdays are at 16:00, and if my failing legs would assist me by recovering somehow, I'm sure to be there.

Hi Genie,

I'm just curious, but is the group you're talking about German? Or an English language group?
Genie
About half are German, the rest international. Almost all speak English to a person that doesn't speak German well (e.g. me, though I do my best smile.gif).
