French financial watchdogs slammed Nicolas Sarkozy for spending £160m during his country's six-month stint in charge of the EU – including £250,000 on a personal presidential shower that he never used.
The vast expense is set out in a report blaming poor management and a lack of transparency by the president's staff.

It comes as no real surprise that a Frenchman would not have used his shower. Getting them to clean their teeth once a week is quite a task.

Why should he care? The money does not come out of his own pocket. Sometimes, men with power can do whatever they like and get away with it. I am sure that this happens all over the world. Suddenly, his poor judgement has been exposed. As with many powerful officials, nothing will be done and this story will gradually disappear.
