Holy Balls,
I need some help!!! I am currently here on a Youth Mobility Visa and I have just one question that no one in the Canadian Embassy, Canadian Consulate, KVR or Auslander or the 1000 other german government offices i have called can seem to answer me.
DO I NEED TO APPLY FOR A WORK PERMIT/RESIDENCY PERMIT WITH THIS VISA????????????
I have phoned everyone under the sun about this and no one seems to have one freaking clue! The visa states that I am entitled to work but no where on this visa is a work number or temporary work number... Unless I am not looking at all these random numbers properly.
I am starting working in Cafe and the boss doesn't know the info off the visa.
If anyone is here on this visa and can answer me these questions I would greatly appreciate it!!
Thanks so much TT'ers!!

I'd say that your visa IS your work permit. What kind of a number is your employer looking for? Does he think you need a Lohnsteuerkarte or something? I think it would be his job to find that out, not yours. You're entitled to travel and/or study and or work for a year.

Yep, I have the Aussie working holiday visa (assume its the same thing, or quite similar) and yes the visa is the work permit. Mine quite clearly states "Beschäftigung erlaubt", and there was no other paperwork from the Hamburg Welcome centre when they issued it. I also asked for a lohnsteurkarte at the same time and got one.

Yes, it's the same thing. I think it even used to be called the Working Holiday Visa but they changed the name to Youth Mobility a couple of years ago.

Yep, it functions as a limited work permit. The limitations aren't clear but I worked for a number of months and used it to start my current job while my permanent visa came through.

AFAIK, beyond the one year limit there are NO limitations. Any number of employers, any length of time (up to 1 year), any number of hours, any type of job etc. Its very flexible, set up for people to be able to move around and find work as they need it.
