You don’t have to go to the Alps for a torchlight walk, Munich has its very own unlit hill and lake scenery right in the middle of town. Join up for an evening stroll through the English Garden, bring a lantern and an appetite as there will be a supper break at the Chinese Tower restaurant. Après-promenade cocktails will be offered in The Potting Shed, close to Münchner Freiheit.

We are meeting at 5 pm in front of the US Consulate at the corner of Von-der-Tann and Königinstrasse and will traverse the width and length of the English Garden (app. 5 km), stopping at various vantage points for shots and pictures, see the map for details.

do you mean torches as in flash-light or the flaming variety? Or do you actually mean Lanterns, which is what i can see in the picture?
gordonthemoron
flaming torches like in Indiana Jones would be good

This sounds like a great idea! Does this have anything to do with St. Martin's Day (the Laternefest)?

I bought some in a DIY store yesterday for halloween. quite cheap too.

Yes, Martinslaternen would be nice. Torch* means the branch dipped in pitch kind of thing, not a flashlight. Pitchforks would be cool, too. We'll draw lots who gets to be Frankenstein's monster.

*This being the English Garden under supervision of the State of Bavaria I highly doubt that open fire is permitted.

Fortunately there will still be pyrotechnics at the Rammstein show

It doesn't have to be a Martinszug but I for one will be buying a big sun lantern if I can find one. Don't forget spare candles.

I just took a look at the menu, they have some very interesting dishes at pretty decent prices. The vegetarian pancakes have just about drawn me away from the goulash.
