Adding a uk number to speedport w303 - Germany

I want to receive cheap calls from the uk

RobM
Hi,

I have recently obtained a UK telephone number from SIPGATE.co.uk as I was told that you can enter this number into my speedport modem/router and receive VOIP calls through it.

Now I have this number I don't know where it should be entered. My German just isn't up to it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
lamontia
Rob, do you have a pdf copy of the Betriebsanleitung (technical manual). I can (maybe) work it out from there. PM me if you have, I will let you know my email address and we can go from there.
RobM
Thanks.

But I'm afraid I do not have the manual and the only one I can find on the internet is just for the initial setup.

From what I can gather the manuals are pretty hopeless anyway.

I'll keep looking though.

Here you can get it:
http://hilfe.telekom.de/hsp/cms/content/HSP/de/3388/theme-71990825/theme-2000178/theme-66139021/theme-70669529

It's the 13,32 MB Bedienungsanleitung, but in German language.
direct link (pdf file!):
http://hilfe.telekom.de/dlp/eki/downloads/Speedport/Speedport_W303V_Typ%20A/bedanl_speedport_w303vA_v_05.2008.pdf

Page 104 offers some hints, but little about how to configure VoIP (f.ex. server address). I'd try to use a softphone instead, like f.ex. the X-Lite, and get my first VoIP experiences that way.

Ok, I've managed to muddle through with the manual (thanks for that postmann) and it seems like I now need to register the number with T-Online.

I need to login to "DSL Telephony". Anyone any idea how I do that?

Bavaria Satellites can organise and setup a UK number for you... but you will obviously need to pay for their Know-how..

Simple and straight forward!

Here I have my doubts. Me too was looking through the manual and I missed the page where the SIP settings would be explained. T-Online is a tough competitor, and I don't think they facilitate access to other companies which basically take their business away. As you have a sipgate username and password, you can log in on their webpage and look at how two devices need to be configured to have your VoIP working:

X-Lite 4
Nokia VoIP client

Unfortunately the linked content cannot be viewed without being logged in, but it is a bit more than the username and password you'll need to enter to get a working VoIP system using plain vanilla SIP (which is what you want to do). After all, by having a (normal) SIP-VoIP number registered, you can be reached on any host in the internet, wherever you want to be reached. Good stuff, just takes some efforts to set it up initially.

I need to login to "DSL Telephony". Anyone any idea how I do that?
This I'd assume will 'only' take you to the Telekom version of VoIP... sorry. By trying to make life easier for their own T-customers, they make it more difficult for anybody else.

If you understand VOIP and whats needed and also have some basic German, Its not that hard...
