Classic car blast over the alps

Suggesting a summer tour

I notice that on the TT Member Interest form, DrivinWest, randy, studentoflife and Tom17 have all put themselves down as interested in classic cars.

What have you got boys? Fancy a summer run over a weekend to Bassano di Grappa?

This is my baby (had her 18 of her 35 years, and she's got M-plates now):

Nice ride Sin, maybe you aren't so bad after all wink.gif

I've got:

67 Mustang Fastback
302 @ 373hp and 340ft-lb
5 speed Tremec tranny out of a late model Cobra
4 wheel discs (stock was 4 drums)
too much else to list

Car isn't local however.

My next purchase:

And you know what is funnier (as in weird) DW?

My maternal grandmother used to hand sew the original Cobra's leather seats together at the AC factory in Thames Ditton. Whenever I see an original old one in the flesh (and I've seen a few in my time~was an Incident Officer at Silverstone~20 years, man and boy), I always look fondly at the seat stitching... and wonder.

The ultimate car for me though is not available sad.gif Mike Wilds owns it.

1978 Ferrari 312 T-3 Chassis No.038

Oh! And I can't afford it anyway (I estimate USD $5,000,000 at auction)

Don't have a classic yet sad.gif (but I do have a one-of-a-kind in munich).

I like the early 60's: big, astro-lines, powerful yet dangerous classic cars. Either that or ancient trucks/jeeps & land rovers. If words like 'discriminating', 'elegant', 'exclusive', 'craftsmanship', 'engineered', 'aspiration', 'bmw', 'mercedes', or 'perfection' are used to describe the car - I'll probably hate it.

If on the other hand, 'fucking dangerous', or 'that boy will land in jail someday, you just watch!' are used - I'll probably like it. If you have keys to one of these, I'll happily take that beer run with ya wink.gif

If anyone does do a classic car run then would it be possible to join you as a passenger? I can offer my services as a (ex) mechanic so I can bring some basic tools and stuff (most my stuff back in the UK).

Well, if you don't ask you don't get! smile.gif
