Egyptian stab victim's husband describes attack - Germany

The Local
An Egyptian man told a German court Monday how his pregnant wife was murdered before his eyes in a frenzied anti-Islamic attack, in a case that has inflamed tempers in the Muslim world.

On the first day of the trial of Russian-born German defendant Alex Wiens in the eastern city of Dresden amid tight security, the victim's husband Elwy Okaz gave wrenching testimony in the same courthouse where his wife was killed.

Some 200 police officers were on hand after reported Internet death threats against the accused, who appeared in court behind bulletproof glass.

After Sherbini testified and left the witness stand, he allegedly pulled the knife he had smuggled into the courtroom and stabbed her and then Okaz, who was shot in the leg by a confused guard who apparently took him for the attacker.
The policeman who mistakenly shot her husband instead of the attacker was given no sanctions of any kind, despite failing to recognise which of them was wielding the kitchen knife? And how can some someone be stabbed 16 times in 3 minutes in front of a packed court? Won't there be some sort of inquiry?

I think in reality things don't quite happen as in Hollywood movies.

Just saw a report on it on CNN. I guess now we can look forward to burning German flags around the Muslim world, etc etc..

This is a terrible crime, and would be in any country involving any two people, regardless of the specifics. Although I don't follow German criminal trials much, I have every reason to believe that the result will be appropriate.
It is, however, unfortunate, that somehow this event gets turned into a "Germany doesn't treat Muslims correctly" circus, especially within the Muslim world. The extremists of Islam regularly try to twist any event to show they are oppressed and not respected.
There are crimes like this elsewhere that receive far less outcry. Were mistakes made that allowed this crime to happen? Possibly, but that shouldn't serve as an indictment of all Germans or Germany.

Why a trial. It occurred in front of a judge, the outcome was/is clear. Save the money and move on to the sentence, which unfortunately with German justice probably involve a fine and a few weekends in prison!!

Read about the court case this morning. What I found shocking was the reaction of the defence lawyer chosen by the defendant, Veikko Bartel from Potsdam. He basically implied that Islam as a religion per se is responsible for his client's behaviour and the murder(did a quick translation from the German article on Spiegel.de:

"We should ask ourselves why the accused killed. Whilst doing so, one should not turn a blind eye to social circumstances in this country. Is the accused a xenophobic fanatic? Perhaps. But don't forget the general image of the Islam in politics and the media. I am not talking about 9/11, but about the daily reports on attacks. Every time an honour killing takes place, the Muslim world reacts with embarrassed silence. The Islam doesn't really portrait itself as being merciful. This has to be taken into consideration and in favour of the accused."
So, not only does this guy come to Germany due to having had some German relative some time in his miserable life, lives off welfare because, quite frankly, he is incapable of doing anything else, then insults a woman sustaining herself, with a university degree, a mother, a wife, then kills her, badly injures her husband and probably traumatises him for the rest of his life, but we also have to hear from a German defence lawyer that face it, she had it coming due to Islam. Her husband, trying to stop the attacker and trying to protect his wife and himself, then also gets shot by a German policeman who mistook him for the attacker. Let me guess why, because he looks foreign. Sickening.

This case really is a showcase for the situation of foreigners in Germany, for official German beliefs and attitudes and for the way Germany deals with foreigners. Irrelevant of what you achieved, if you don't have German blood running through your veins, you are and will always be a foreigner. Whoever has but a few drops of German blood flowing through their veins can come here and live off taxpayer's money, no problem. This has not changed since 1933. Now it's the Muslim. This is getting really scary.

Hello Claudi, I can calm you down! You need not wet your 100 per cent biodegradable jute-panty! The probability that the Germans will reactivate their concentration camps is virtually zero! Dead honest! But still good that someone brings the Godwin into play.

As Always most , a number of TTers would directly go and wonder :

people try to explain, and no one would get it, that muslims DO NOT enjoy being cornered and looked at in a weird way, and treated differently, they just want to be treated just like any1 else and simply live and let live... but when shit happens that directly attack muslims for being muslims, which is happening a lot recently, then ofcourse muslims will speak up and bitch about it , it has to stop, and it has to be mentioned and attract attention and lots of it, until it stops.

But anyway since no1 listens to reasons these days, here is an exact proof on how people look at muslims (not all, but a huge percentage)

The whole flying airplanes full of innocent people into buildings full of innocent people would probably tend to tarnish their reputation.. Yeah, that, and then the daily "suicide"/homicide bombings - you know, where pretty much every day since 9/11 they've been blowing up innocent folk at bus-stops and vegetable markets and the like.. Get that shit under control and we'll talk..
