Just noticed that the former Schlecker shop in Angerstrasse is going to reopen as an Asia Markt.
Hopefully this will fill the hole left by the closure of the Asian shop in Am Worth. Would save me some shoe leather too...

This is great! Do you know when it's going to open? Can't beleive I didn't notice this. This may be the best thing to happen in the Angerstrasse since.. well ever. Although this is great, I'm wondering why they didn't try and go into the Schlueter. Anyway this has made my day.

Although this is great, I'm wondering why they didn't try and go into the Schlueter.
Most likely because the rents at Schlueter are to high.
The only reason why an Asia-Shop could afford to move into this shop in Angerstr is, because the landlord was desperate and reduced it´s demands significantly. In my opinion the whole building is a shitty location for any kind of business. But we´ll see how long they will survive.

The area is good, as in there is a lot of people living in the area without much walking access to shops. However the lack of parking reduces the access for people in cars. The stores in that area are starting to squabble of parking soo badly they know have signs in all the parking spots telling you which shop the space belongs to. However if it is a decent asian shop I think it could do well. I will definately be a customer, the bakery there is pretty good as well.

@Iain
I just walked past there today, there was a cardboard sign in the window, which wasn't there yesterday.
I guess the rent has maybe been reduced there, it's been empty since July.

There's no way they could have afforded the rent at the Schluter, that's only for classy stores like Kik and Burger King.

Progress at Schluter seems pretty slow too, maybe they want to open their shop this year...

Don't forget mister lady.
It will be interesting to see how quickly they open. I suspect it will be fairly quick actually. Once you have the outer shell done, the stores going in can do there thing pretty quick. wasn't it a protected building though?

I think the main building, with the 2 towers is protected - they just seem to be building new shells over the rest of the buildings.

I lived in an appartement "am Wörth" when the Asian shop opened there. I had a lot of money to spend and was interested in foreign food. I went in there once, looked around, couldnt read the strange lettering on the strange products, didnt see any price tags and noone who spoke german and left without buying anything. Although I walked by almost every day, I never could convince myself to enter again. As there are probably a lot more people like me (= germans) than openminded Toytowners in Freising, I dont expect the new shop to last longer than the other one. Unless of course they do things very differently.

Saw some people working at putting up stock as I was walking past there yesterday, so being the nosey bugger I am I stuck my nose in and asked them when they are planning to open. 23rd of november seems to be the planned date for opening. So apparently on monday in two weeks we shall have an asian store.

Hope that doesn't mean the REWE near the station will close...
