Need to repair a DV tape

Right then,

When we were in Lanzarote we went to this amazing blow hole at these cliffs named El Hierro (spelling?). At high tide the water swirls up this hole in the cliff then leaps 20 feet in tthe air.

Yes I got soaked. tongue.gif

My DV camera was harmed. When I played the tapes it would chew them. Now I am scared of losing all the tape which has a lot of valuable family stuff on it.

Can the tapes be repaired? Perhaps spliced or somehow recovered?

I'd be utterly grateful if anbyone knew how to recover this stuff.

Jeremy.

Take them to a professional and they will tell you whether they can be saved or not.

Professional? Yeah but who?

There's a guy called John Eikenberry in Munich who should be able to help you.

His company is called Scan My Media, and the website is here

I'm thinking about using him to convert my old VHS-C tapes into MPEG4, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Perhaps you can update the forum on your experiences with Mr Eikenberry.

There is this big Media/film/printing place near Sendlinger Tor Tram/U-bahn stop on the same side as the Post office. I can't remember the name of the place but they can probably do it for you or at least tell you if it is possible.

Sauter is the name of the shop.
