hey calm down lads, calm down!!! don't be so willing to say goodbye to our best player!! Its not as if we are doing so well at the moment we can spare players!

Gerrard seems to be excellent in the premier, but he has not done it for me yet against any of the top european teams. Alonso has been superb, especially the game in Turin and the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Gerrard was shite when England needed him against Portugal last year as well, kept on giving the ball away when England needed to keep the ball for a bit to take off the pressure. 30m you're having a laugh!!
Eric the Hamster
I think i'll agree to disagree on that one!
Wee Mun
I don't think you should get rid of Gerrard, I just think he is a bit overhyped. Rate Lampard higher.
Crawlie
Gerrard as the ability to change a game. He can make a huge difference. However, he also has the ability to go completely undercover and not be noticed at all. His presence on the field is the influencial factor that really makes the difference.

I dunno. I agree with the Lampard comment - he is just consistent week in, week out which is basically what a person playing in that position should be. He is dominant, yet reliable. Gerrard just misses that final edge. I do not want Gerrard to leave and I do not expect him to. The only reason he would is his pursuit of Silverware, especially in Europe, and I would respect his decision. Oh yeah, and because he could earn shit loads more money at Chelsea or Real... wink.gif
More tea, Vicar?

I do not want Gerrard to leave

Nor do I Crawlie, I fcuking love the boy! My favourite cactus is called Gerrard, and I'm gonna name my first child (boy or girl) StevieG.

But we must stop this "Liverpool are doomed without him" mentality. We will do an Everton next season if he's gone.

He is a great player. Did you see those three pinpoint sweeping passes me made out to Riise. Wins ball, finds wingback to the inch. Amazing.

And he's worth every penny of the 30mill they talk about. But we can't wait to see what he decides to do. He knows the fans love him. Now he's just got to get on with it.

ps. Alonso and Garcia aren't good enough to lick his boots in my opinon
Wee Mun
Alonso is top class, and has been Liverpool's best player in europe this year.

Alonso, with experiance in the Premiership, match fit, without yellow cards, and injuries, will be a very good player next year. Garcia is inconsistant, but maybe it's just a settling in period, has flashes of sheer brilliance, e.g. goal against Juve, Mori, well judges are still out, has not really played too much football recently.

Would agree, while I would not like him to go, and with Gerrard stating he wants to win things with Liverpool, I would guess Liverpool will survive OK without him, and 30 mil would buy a fair replacement.

EDIT : Carra has been Liverpools best player this season

Bring back Faustinho Asprilla, I say.  He murdered the Scouse in that classic 4-3 (I think it was).

From today on www.nufc.com the source of all things Newcastle united.

"Subject to any unexpected fleeing of the country, Saturday's half time hero is scheduled to be popular Colombian octopus cum ball juggler Tino Asprilla.

Currently without a club, Tino was recently on the Colombian version of "I'm a celebrity..." show, which involved him living on a beach, eating live cockroaches and getting to know a well-known pin up - so not much has changed since his time on Tyneside... "

Say where you watching on Tuesday? Or is this a stupid question by now? Don't want to watch the 'scouse alone again with the Fritz bird asking me stupid questions ...

Yep, I will be there !

Tuesday 3rd - Liverpool v Chelsea

Just needed to look back through the thread ! See ya there !
Crawlie
Alonso has an amazing vision when it comes to distribution but he does not have the work ethic. As far as I am concerned, Gerrard and Beckham come from the same mould with regards to work rate COUPLED with distribution. The only difference being that Beckham having the delicate free kick skills and gerrard having a powerhouse shot.

Luis Garcia will develop into a top star. He has everything but just needs to show consistency.

Morientes will be invaluable. Of that I have no doubt. He just needs to settle down and relax. The Champions League will bring out the best in him and the Premiership will eventually come to learn of his undoubtable talent.

UEFA now possibly changing their mind !

Door is again slightly open. After Liverpool's performance yesterday, winning is going to be the only way. As long as Liverpool are in the Chumps League, their Prem League performances are just not consistant enough.

Hey, I went! Great match biggrin.gif I didn't want to enter the pub alone not knowing where to locate the TT crowd, but luckily another Newbee had the same thought and offered to meet up with me along the way. We both went together and it was a good job we did! The place was so crowded there was no way of knowing who was who! We couldn't very well go up to people and ask "hey, are you from Toytown?" could we! Anyway, we both enjoyed the match and the atmosphere very much - shame we didn't meet anyone else though. I thought it was a great pub, lovely atmosphere and a great crowd whoever they were! Would definitely like to go again.
