Jelly (Jello) flavours

Are there more than two here?

Steven192
We have discussed crisp flavours, the availablity of self raising flours and such things but I haven't seen this any where.

Why is it that I can only find two types of jelly in any of the shops?

You can have either Waldmeister (green) or Kirsch (red) and that is it.

Anyone know where I can get some orange or purple or something?
TheSwedishChef
I picked up raspberry jelly from Metro the other day. The other options, apart from the shite you listed, included lime and strawberry.

So red and green again then

Its a plot by the SPD/Gruene to get you used to the colours...

We must be lucky, our supermarket has red, green AND yellow. Lemon flavour. Can't stand that Waldmeister stuff.

Ready-made Jello/y with boring flavo(u)rs? Forget that!
I'll post my recipe (alky and non) this evening.

Oh this sounds like - gelatine, colours - dip your elbow in the hot water (or was that babies?) only to be done at midnight of a full moon type cookery to me.

Empty box - add boiling water - fridge = done. My type of cooking

You could pick out the yellow ones from a bag of Gummibärchen and melt them down to create a staggeringly new-coloured jelly!

Yum. With the alky ones you end up not really caring what colour it is at the end of the evening.

You could buy Hartley's jellies from British Allsorts (or any one of the other British foods online retailers in Germany)

Basic recipe
six sheets of gelatin
2 cups of water (app. 450ml)
1 1/4 cups fruit juice (app. 270ml)
1 cup sugar (app. 230g)

Soak the sheets of gelatin in 1 cup cold water
Boil the other cup of water and the sugar
Remove from the heat, add the juice
Mix into the water/gelatin mixture
Chill app. 3 hours

I tend to replace the syrup from any canned fruits I am adding for the fruit juice. Decrease the sugar to ¾ cup if you do this.

Jello shots
Decrease fruit juice to 1 cup, replace ¼ cup with the alcohol of your choice. See above regarding the syrup from canned fruits.

If you want to make fruit/alky shots do NOT add the fruit to the jello mix and pour, you’ll only make a huge mess. Instead, place the fruit – well drained – into your shot glass and pour the mix over it.

Lemon, pineapple, lime, cherry, lychee or other syrups available from cocktail bar suppliers are great helpers to get very intense tastes into your shots without diluting the precious alcohol. Play around with flavors:
Rum with pears
Vodka with lychee syrup and raspberries
Grenadine with pomegranate seeds
Apricot liqueur with peach
etc.

If you have lots of time on your hands you can make layered shots, letting each layer chill before adding the next.

I haven't found disposable shot glasses anywhere except Metro (members only), if anyone has please give me a shout, thanks.

Sheet gelatin is available from Dr. Oetker or cheaper companies, there's little to no difference in its performance.

Dr.Oetker does a raspberry one as well - but it comes in powdered form, not as the ubiquitous blocks that you get in the UK/US. NB. this is NOT a glaze for fruit tarts etc - this is "full-on", proper jelly / jello (Dr. Oetker's glazes come in colourless, red unflavoured, and red with strawberry flavouring).

Toom has them in poly-wrapped stacks of 20 - for 1€ - bargain. You should find them in the "party requisites" aisle.
