With the impending winter approaching, I was wondering if anyone knows of some snowfields close by to the Köln/Dusseldorf area. By close-by, I mean no more than 1.5 hours drive.
I would like to take my two kids to the snow later on for a few day trips. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Cheers,

There's a fairly big indoor place in Neuss. For outdoor Winterberg would probably be your best bet, but that's 2 hrs away.

Winterberg is the best option!
Sometimes there is snow in the Belgium Ardennes as well (near Spa for example), which is a little closer.

Best bet is to try out the Sauerland area.

Only places where you are likely to get any decent areas of snow around here.

Hi tyc - I have two young children (4 and 6) and took them to Winterberg in April this year. It is very busy but perfect for introducing young kids to skiing. We started off in the Neuss skihalle which is busy at weekends so best you take a day of work for that one! Winterberg has plenty of blue runs but my eldest managed the red runs after two days ski-ing, which gives you some idea of the difficulty. There is also a skihalle in Landgraf which is about an hour away in Holland called Snowworld. Another is Alpincenter in Bottrop - hope this helps.

I concur on Winterberg. Go to the
