Well, as the title says, I've been here over 5 years and am leaving next week to go back to live in US. I feel like I've done and seen a lot of what Munich has to offer, but I've probably missed or forgotten about some interesting stuff.

I'm mainly planning to visit a couple of friends, but I have free time, so looking for suggestions of fun and interesting things to do.

What would you do???
Moonboot
have you taken the bus tour?
Thelonious Monk
or the guided bicycle tour?
NoBullJim
a pub crawl?? You won't have that kind of opportunity in the states. And the beer sucks to.
leky
I'll drink to that Jim :-)

I assume that you have been to Andechs, & all the likely culprits, but what about further afield, to the Partnachklamm in Garmisch, Salt mines in Berchtesgaden etc?

I did the bus tour but not the bike tour. That could be fun. Which one is recommended (Mike's Bike tour?)

Pub crawl sounds good too. Any specific suggestions on where and when they start?

Okay, so it´s outside of München, but have you been up the Zugspitze yet?
So far I´ve been here 16 years and still haven´t managed to get up there............

Close by theres this town called mittenwald.

You can climb up from there to this mountain hut called Brunnestein Hutte .. google it.
Its set in some awesome surrounding (and hopefully is open still).

It can be a nice way to unwind for a day/night before leaving the country.

Good Luck!

Wendelstein? You can take the BOB there and then the gondola/cable car to the top. On a clear day, spectacular views.

Climb the Alter Peter church tower and have a beer at the Viktualienmarkt afterwards (beforehand is more fun, though).
Visit the various landmarks of Nazi architecture still visible.
Sit on a bench in the English Garden.
Sit on the lap of one of the statues at Maxmonument.

Take a ride on all the streetcar lines and soak up the atmosphere of the different parts of Munich.
Complain about tourists and other foreigners while taking a Dachshund for a walk.
I don't know if the stands are already set up - buy roasted chestnuts from a stand and eat them while walking down the Neuhauser Strasse.
Have a Butterbrezn.
Take a bike ride along the Isar from way down south in Thalkirchen north to Oberföhring.
Take the guided tour on the roof of the Olympiastadion.
Be European while you can.

Have you spray painted along the DB yet? Must do must do!

I always find enjoyment also in loading up groceries , getting in the line, act like you forgot something, and walk off never to return. Its amazing how people will wait for you...except omas. They wait for nothing or no one.

Oh also put an american NFL helmet on and walk around Marienplatz having you picture taken with random strangers. People wont mind because they think you are mental and you get a lot of pictures of pretty girls.

Sleep with two women at the same time.

But not buxom Bavarian ones. I would fear for davo's health and safety!

*Pas, got any pictures for us?*

YOu could kill 2 birds with one stone....there is a company that rent a 'bike bar'. I have seen them cycling round Munich with 12 (I guess) people on the table all cycling togehter complete with a barrel of beer. It must be a right hoot. I don't haver a contact, but I am sure that someone can post the website for it.

If you do do it, then have a good one.
