Looking to buy locally produced honey in Munich especially from some farmer or weekly market etc. Heard that it is good for allergies.
Any info is appreciated.
Thank you.

I walked past what seemed to be a bee-keepers co-operative today, it looked like one person was there selling honey. North end of Englisher Garten near Aumeister, just South of the railway bridge, near the Isar. Maybe they have a web site?

munich 1, you want to be sure to get raw local honey if you're hoping to use it to prevent allergies. Too many of the bits of pollen you want to expose your system to have been removed from honey processed via heat or filters.
When you find a local beekeeper, you might need to make special arrangements to get raw honey.

There's a guy in my neighborhood, on the Friedenspromenade, who sells his own honey. There's also a guy at our weekly market, on Friday afternoons, in front on the Rewe store. Personally, we buy our honey by the crate from an old school friend of my husband's who is an hobby beekeeper. He lives near Ulm though. Our daughter could eat honey three times a day if we'd let her, so we use quite a bit of honey.
I'll try to get an exact address/phone from both the guy in our neighborhood & the guy at the farmer's market & post it.

There's a guy who produces Bio honey in Laim, and I think sells it at the weekly farmers market there. I can't remember his details, but a piece appeared about him in Prinz magazine sometime around June of this year.

My uncle is a bee keeper near Augsburg and sells his honey at the farmers market in Untersendling (Brudermühl-Thalkirchnerstr. )- Dates and further info can be found
here. He also has an online shop. Don't know about the raw honey, he offers comb honey, I don't know whether this is equivalent to raw honey.

Yep, Hony on the comb is inded the stuff you want!
The bees are usually very maticulous about allowing fragments of pollon into the honey.. If the Honey is filtered, then ist usually to remove the wax cappings and debris after the Apiarist has cut his way into a frame.

Your best bet is to look for small signs outside people's houses in the countryside "Honig aus eigene Imkerei". There are loads by us here. They do vary with quality however. We get ours from a place in Lenggries and the chap knows his stuff - he has 500 hives. Some of them if you ask will show you the hive and open it up for you, but be warned many of the nice local chaps speak only Bavarian!

As Mr.D pointed out there is fresh honey that is being sold in the Englischer Garten. We passed it on the weekend and it seems to be quite popular.

As far as I am aware, this is a bit of an old-wives tale with no scientific evidence to back it up. Most of the allergy causing pollen are not the pollen being collected by bees.

It's true there is no scientific evidence to back it up. Still, honey has
remarkable healing properties, noted since ancient times.
It's also kind of doubtful any scientific evidence will ever exist to confirm or refute taking honey to try to build up immunity to pollen allergies. Who would fund it?

How much do you think bee keepers make?

I stopped & checked the info on the guy on the Friedenspromenade who sells honey. He must be a hobby beekeeper, because the plaque on the wall said "Bauingenieur"
His name is Richard H. Gaube
Address: Friedenspromenade 26 (that's the quiet side street parallel to the heavily-traveled Friedenspromenade)
Email: gaube.richard(at)t-online.de
Phone: 089/4309114
A 250g jar costs 3 Euro and a 500g jar 5 Euro, and it's self-serve - you drop the money in the mailbox.
Tomorrow I'll get the info on the guy that sells honey and beeswax products at the farmer's market in our neighborhood.
