Does anyone know in which bars they show the tv program Tatort on Sundays? Apparently that's as German as it gets, to gather in pubs to see the show. Wwe would love to know where to go so we don't end up watching football

Do people watch Tatort in pubs? I have never heard of it. Though, why not.
Before we moved, my husband used to go to our neighbours to watch it - more fun watching it with others.

Tatort is now available on demand on the ARD website for six days after transmission....good news for those of us without TV's or who just miss it or can't stomach the whole 90 mins at once . I don't hear much of it being "watched" properly in public these days though. That sounds a bit like the "it'as bad manners to telephone at 2000 as everyone's watching Tagesschau" out of date image of Germany. With the modern trends for pictures only, I do literally get to "watch" it in public sometimes...but without sound!

My language teacher said it's a typical German thing to do, to watch it in pubs. I assume he is a reliable source We will watch it at home tonight, but maybe we'll find a pub to share the experience in for the next episode!

Also, remember that Tatort is a long-standing show but it's of West German origin. So you might not find that "tradition" in what was a mainly east-German city. Perhaps communal watching of "Polizeiruf 110" is more likely there??
Anyway, I enjoyed the Ulrike Folkerts one as ever last week and, tonight, I believe we are with the München guys.
