In the past while I was in Salzburg and in Flensburg, I used the Land-Tickets to get to and from Muenchen and Hamburg respectively. For short trips with multiple people this was very practical and inexpensive. This summer, I will be flying in to Frankfurt and need to get to Muenchen and would like to do so as cheaply as possible. Does anyone know what the cheapest way to get from Frankfurt to Muenchen is? I would probably enjoy spending a night in Stuttgart or Wuerzburg on the way to break up travel. What are everyone's experiences using these ticket traveling from one state to another?
Any suggestions?

car is probably the cheapest if you have that but if not then the train. I presume you would just buy a couple of Land tickets. Not sure if you can buy a Bayern ticket in Frankfurt though.

I presume I'll have to stop at a border station and buy the next passage. Car is not really an option. Any suggestions as to a city between Frankfurt and Munich I should overnight in? I have been to both Stuttgart and Wuerzburg for short visits before and have been to Rothenburg too many times.

29 Euros with the train - that Deutsche Bahn 'Frühlingsangebot'. Goes alright, I reckon.

Oooooh my famous anorak.
You can combine a bayen ticket with the short stretch that isn#t in the State of Bavaria or use a SW ticket all the way.
Saw some new posters from DB out yesterday but haven't looked too closely.
there's a new round of bargain fares come out, might be a good deal, look out for the posters in town.

I did a quick search, obviously used an insufficient string. I will re-run it using term mentioned here, thanks.
Still any suggestions for where to stay?
I am also going to be traveling during the week so SW is not available to me (so far as I understood it).

Then combine bayern ticket with a hessen ticket or just buy a normal ticket for the short stretch not in bavaria.

Buy a normal ticket from frankfurt Airport to Würtzberg, then use a Bayern ticket to Munich, if you miss out on the other DB Deals.

I believe the cheapest most practical way to go about this trip would be to go through the Mitfahrzentrale.

...but then you are putting your life in the hands of a german driver
I'm not keen on getting in a car with them, a lot of them are completely crazy

I have two friends who will be visiting Munich, but they booked their flight into Frankfurt. They arrive on the 31st of this month. i am looking for the cheapest way for them to arrive in Munich from Frankfurt. I see that the train would cost 59€ each, and the Schöneswochenende tickets will be a six hour ride!!! Does anyone know if there are buses or other modes of transportation? Or any other ideas??

Well as already mentioned, the
cheapest way from Frankfurt to Munich is to buy a standard train ticket from Frankfurt to Aschaffenburg (actually, Würzburg was mentioned, but A'burg is closer to Frankfurt and is the border) and a Bayern Ticket from there. I can't see a coach being any quicker, even if there is one. I was having a look at
eurolines, but either they don't offer internal journeys within Germany, or their website is screwed. Car is the quickest way. Train is the most relaxing way.
Otherwise, there might be a
Lufthansa bus or something between Frankfurt airport and Munich airport, but it's still another hour from the airport to Munich. Check the Munich airport website. If the journey is too long, maybe do what Hase was trying to do - split the journey by stopping off somewhere. There's thousands of options; Rothenburg ob der Tauber won't be on the direct route but is highly recommended.

Book with Deutsche Bahn 3-5 days before your travel date and it will only cost you 29 EUR per person.. Can beat that, and I think it's even good on the ICE, so no 6-9hr, 4 changes FRA-MUC Trip...

there's something called Mitfahrerboerse when you travel with Deutsche Bahn.
Think you have to book tickets together to get discount...
as opposed to that Schoenes Wochenende pass where only one persone buys
the ticket

Deutsche Bahn: Gruppe&SparYou need at least six people, all travelling together. Discounts range from 50 to 70 per cent, depending on when you book.
