Hey all

We are Egyptians living in Germany, my husband lived here in Germany since june 03,he was studying at the university of cologne and then started working as "AugenArzt" in a hospital in cologne as well. now my question is , when is he eligible to apply for German Citizenship???.
we know that, normaly after 8 years one can apply for citizenship and in some cases one can apply after 7 years after taking and passing an integration course. we also heard that one can apply for citizenship after only 6 years in case he proves proficiency in the German language. does anybody have any experience with that? also we need to know the duration of the citizenship process particularly in koeln and in which area of NRW is the process fastest?
