Post-toddlerhood pride - Germany

Anyone else with older kids have this?

Right then,

I know there are some in the middle of the whole baby thing here but there are also some at the other end of it.

The change I am on about is when the youngest is clean and they can go to Oma for one night or so while you have the freedom to go and do what you want as a couple. In our case it was a high mountain hike one day then a long mountain bike trip the next. I think it was the first time I was able to chat to me wife without any interruption in ages. We both found it hugely healthy.

Now that they are older that long tiring daily fug of cleaning up dirty bums, and spilt mess seems to be over, not to mention the exhausting "trotzphase" they are a little easier. In short the pressure eases up a little and you can start to feel a little pride in your little ones.

Anyone else have that post toddler feeling? Its wonderful. Mind you its only fleeting....like it was all worth it.

Mine are 6 months, 2 y/o, and 3 y/o...so not yet. Can't wait!

Mine's 11 and extremely independent but I can relate because it still seems like she was born yesterday!

Everyone's warned that having infants and babies (up to about 2) is a real slog.

Then they warn you about "the terrible twos". What they neglect to tell you is that the "terrible twos" last until they're about five or six.

But then they hit that point where they're genuinely fun to be with. I'm actually there right now. It's great.

As Bill Murray's character in Lost In Translation said:

Your life, as you know it... is gone, never to return. But they learn how to walk, and they learn how to talk and you want to be with them. And they turn out to be the most delightful people you will ever meet in your life.
