Need to rent a Sit-N-Stroll

Baby equipment rental

tracykatzenberger
Hello!

My husband and our 15 month old baby are travelling back to the States for Christmas and New Years. He is too big for the car seat we have that fits into the stroller frame and too small to fit in a big airplane seat alone. I found the Sit-N-Stroll online and it looks like a great solution so he can have something to sit/sleep in on the airplane and we can wheel him around in the airports as well. Would anyone have one of these or something like it that we can rent during the holidays? If not, does anyone have a solution that has worked for them when flying overseas? He will have his own seat on the plane so we just want to find something that makes him comfortable enough to sleep.

Thanks in advance for any advice or help anyone has to offer!

Our solution has been to bring a toddler seat (the one our child uses in our car normally) and buckle that and toddler into airplane seat. We use this to carry toddler seat through airport (it is actually quite comfortable, believe it or not). On an occasion when we forgot to bring it with me, I just stuck toddler carseat upside-down on stroller (regular stroller with stroller seat, not just stroller frame) in order to push it and our carry-ons through airport to gate. Baby was carried in Ergo carrier on parent's back in that case, so everybody was accounted for. (Of course i would never put child in unsecured carseat teetering on stroller.) At gate, I checked stroller and lugged toddler carseat to our spot on the plane, buckled everybody in and that was that. Even with only one adult, this was all manageable, as long as baby is in hands-free carrier strapped to adult and adult can use both hands to schlep carseat and carryon. Airplane staff offered to help but it wasn't really necessary, plus this juggling portion of trip lasted only a couple minutes so easily do-able.

GL and safe travels to your husband and baby.

Thanks for the idea, but I fear it won't work for us. The carseat we have now that he is bigger is just so heavy to carry or try to balance on our stroller. Also with our baby, we would have to carry him and that does not work now that he wants to jump out of our arms and walk around (not very good for our layovers and airport transfers and such). I hope that someone in Toytown has one that they would be willing to rent or sell so I don't have to pay the crazy shipping costs!

Thanks for the help!

Our carseat is pretty heavy, too (a big Britax, weighs 17 pounds) but works fine with Rucksack attachment and/or plopped upside down in our Graco stroller (we can strap it down with bungee, too). If yours is any heavier than that I understand your not wanting to carry on your back! We are also lucky in that our son has spent time in a bjorn and Ergo carrier since birth so we can pop him into the Ergo (even now that he's 2) and he'll stay there (at least for a good while, if there's lots to see) without clamoring to get down. We do a lot of long haul travel with him sp I guess he's just used to our system. At home he never wants to be carried so I guess that's his travel mode (or maybe he just likes to be extra close to us in airports - maybe the sights, sounds, etc. are overwhelming for him, I dunno).

Anyway, good luck in finding a solution, and safe travels.

Just saw this and thought you might be interested. It's for purchase, not for rental, and goodness knows how you'll get it to Hannover from Ramstein, but maybe worth a look:
