21-year-old US expat attacked on Munich U-Bahn

From Bild Zeitung: Student (21) brutal zu Boden gestiefelt.

According to the article he was beat up because, well... just because, the attackers were bored, and fighting 'macht Spaß'.

Apparently the Student is from Oklahoma so maybe he is known to some of you. The incident happened at the U-Bahn station Neuperlach.

This really aggravates me to hear these stories, and it seems to be happening more and more.

I am just happy to hear he is ok and no serious injuries were done.

My question is, were there people around that could have helped him out?

Time to toughen up the laws on these goons.

No no, hes ok physically at least, just a few bruises according to the article. Apparently the 2 culprits were well known by the police for many different offenses. They were caught, but probably will be released to keep on doing what they are doing.

One day they will pick on the wrong person.

Worryingly the article says that it was a 19 year old chinese who beat him up.... See... the chinese have the okies up their... first they take their jobs than the follow them around the world and...

There are violent little punks in pretty much every society.

In Munich the 'wrong person' will probably be some poor old git with a weak heart and it will kill him.

These bolster my long-standing argument with my wife that foreigners, especially americans, are routinely targeted in Germany.

"oh, no, no, no, Germans luuuurve americans". As if.

Yet another reason to keep your op sec/force protection levels high.

I still wouldnt read too much into random attacks. Germany is till a safe place. I hope someone on the TT grapevine knows the person and can help.

We have yet to have both sides of the story, it could have been provoked by a bit of youthful gobbiness, so hopefully the truth will out.

EDIT: Bigenglish, after talking to twhite and hearing him rant about the senselessness of the attack, I can tell you it was unprovoked. He said they (him and his friend, a girl) were just randomly attacked. When the girl stepped in to lend a hand to him, the hooligans hit her too. Senseless and stupid all the way.

Oh honestly. After many years in Germany neither I nor anyone I know has been a victim of any sort of crime whatsoever yet every day the papers are full of victims' stories and they come from - you guessed it - everywhere!

Meanwhile, if you go around dressed in combats talking about your delta sec con level 4 reds then you're just going to make yourself look like a prick, and perhaps attract attention that will make you a target. Just relax, you can do that here.

Hmm... didn't expect to find an article about myself. Time to clear some things up...

Yes I'm ok. I appreciate those of you who are/were concerned about me. I had a mild concussion and bruises but that's mostly the extent of it.

@Expaticus - actually, if you'd have read the article you'd have noticed that one of the two wasn't German at all, but Chinese.

@BigEnglish2009 - It was completely unprovoked, they each have around 30 previous convictions including "Körperverletzung".

@lilplatinum - Fortunately I would never cause myself the humiliation of wearing such an ugly shirt in Oklahoma, Texas or in the rest of the world for that matter.

All in all they were drunk and just waiting for someone to come along to beat the hell out of. My friend and I just happened to be in that part of the train in lovely Neuperlach.
