Swing dancing in Cologne

Is there any?

C-and-C
Hi All,

I'm a first time poster - I've been living in Cologne for the past 4 months. My wife and I have just moved from Australia where there is quite a big swing dancing community. We are wondering if anyone knows of any classes or social swing dancing nights in Cologne (or nearby). I have visited a few of the Jazz bars around town and love the music(especially Papa Joes, which would be perfect to dance to if there was any room!) but haven't come across any dancers (which leads me to believe that perhaps there aren't any).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey, I don't know if anyone sent you a personal message about this or not, but I also would love to know the answer to this question. As well as a place for good latin dancing. I haven't been to Cologne much, so I wish i could help! But if you hear anything then please let me know

Hi guys, I think you might be dissapointed as I too am yet to find anywhere other than Munich - and I have been searching for the year I have been over here, be it Swing, Modern Jive or salsa/latin

I am looking for a hobby and also to meet new friends (and women ;-)

My best idea was swing dancing. I saw an older couple at a wedding rock the dancefloor swing style and was blown away, as were the rest of us youngsters at the wedding. I thought, damn those old folks are COOL! Some day I would like to be able to dance like that.

Anyways, I am moving to Bonn, but it sounds like there arent any swing dancing clubs/lessons.

Does anyone know of any other cool hobbies in the Koln/Bonn area? Also where pretty ladies might hang out ;-)

Have you actually contacted the dancing schools in the town?

In the early 90s, I did a standard ballroom dancing course in D'dorf.

I think if you start off with a course, you'll get into the 'scene' so to speak and you'll find out more information.

Here you go. http://cologne.hopspot.eu/
I have no idea what they are like, and it is Lindy Hop, but if you have doing four step swing it is fairly easy to pick up. Boogie Woogie tends to be very popular in Germany as well, which is slightly different again

Hi. Try this http://www.hot-peppers.de/html/home.htm
It's boogie woogie which is slightly different to swing, the footwork is different. They also seem to do Salsa as well.
