Looking for Hairdresser in Heidelberg and vicinity

Must be good with short hair!

Hi, Everyone! My husband and I have just moved to the Heidelberg area with our 2 year old, so we are just getting settled in and learning our way around. At the moment, I really need a haircut. Does anyone know of a really good hairdresser? I would prefer to go to an Aveda salon, since I have my color formula with me, but I would be willing to go somewhere else for talent. I am sure I will have many, many more questions, but this is what is bothering me most at the moment.

Thanks for your help, and looking forward to getting to know everyone and the forum better!

Hi Julia, I've gone to the Roland-Curth place in Neunheim (Brückenstraße 1 | 69120 Heidelberg | Tel. 06221 412209). I've been pretty happy with them, and several of the stylists speak English (just ask). No idea if it's an Aveda salon though. I've also heard that Haircut near Bismarkplatz in HD is an okay place to go, but I don't have any experience with there. Good luck.

Oh, I should mention that until recently, I had short hair.

I go to the Aveda Salon in Neuenheim - it's called Claudia Rudasalon. I get my hair cut either by Claudia Ruda (the Meisterin and owner) or else Fatlume. Both do a great job. The latter is great as a colorist, too. (Can't speak to the former's colorist skills from personal experience, but am assuming they're good as well.) All the salon's staff have been taking specialist English lessons for at least the past year so (though we always converse in German) I'm assuming they're pretty conversant, at least in hairdressing-related terminology.

I've been going to them for years and have always been happy.

GL! Oh, and a warm welcome to HD. Fire away with questions at any time.

Hi!

I'm also new in Heidelberg (got here less than 2 months ago) but already tried Claudia Ruda.
It's a very nice place and the staff is very friendly. And for what I noticed all the hairdressers take their time with customers.
I had my hair washed, cut and dried and it was 54 Euros.

Cheers

I have been to Roland Curth two times. The owner, Herr Curth, cut my hair. I went there because I was looking for someone who could use the Vidal Sassoon technique - that has been successful in taming my unruly hair. The first time I went, I took a photo of my hair after a cut from my favorite stylist at home he matched it nearly perfectly.

Since then I have changed up my style and did not have a photo for the 2nd visit. I asked for a trim, but to keep the same shape. 1) He tried to wash my hair before consulting with me to see what I wanted. 2) When I did get him to talk to me before washing, he did not hear a word I said. 3) He told his assistant (in german, but I understood) to bring me a book of hairstyles to look through. He obviously didn't want to give me the cut I wanted. 3) He cut my hair way shorter than I said and the previous style that I wanted is no longer recognizable. I have to admit that I started to cry because a bad haircut with my hair type is a bad 2 months of pony tails and growing it out. And bad hair cuts in Germany seem to be my trend. He told me that he thought his cut was much better than my previous cut and that he did not feel guilty for how it looked. He then disappeared. I kept asking him to thin out the bottom of my hair because it is so thick and he kept telling me no. He wanted to do what he wanted to do and did not even consider what I wanted.

With that being said, my husband went to a girl there who did exactly what he wanted. Unfortunately, we both will not return because we do not want to give our money to Herr Curth. And my "precision" hair cut is lopsided.

This is just my personal experience that I wanted to share.
