Does anyone know a bar where they show NHL (National Hockey League? In particular the playoff games?
I've gotta watch my hometown team reach the Stanley Cup after so many failures...

I don't know of a bar who definately show it but ask down at
Bondi.
If they're not showing anything else (ie football, rugby or cricket) they'll show the NHL for you.

I've just emailed them to find out if they are showing any of the NHL

Problem I would guess with somewhere like
Günther Murphy's is that the games are all on at the wrong time - they would normally clash with their busy moments.
It was bad enough watching the last day of the 6 nations, but at least it was a rugby crowd. I cant imagein GM's showing playoff hockey on a saturday night when they have a live band or something on.
I know the
NASN TV channel show repeats of stuff during the week, but if its going to be done, it really should be live.

Like any great Leafs fan, I spent last night walking the city in search of a bar playing the game. Please note that it was 1am and I was in heals! My search ended back at my apartment "watching" the game via
espn.com. No images just a play by play recap. The next game is Sunday at 10pm. I don't want a repeat performance of last night. Where can I watch the game live?

FYI,
Ned Kelly's did show the last half of San Jose-Colorado game 5 after the Germany-Austria game was finished. It was on the small screen and no sound (and I had to watch the Sharks lose in OT after leading 1-0) but it was better than nothing.
Apparently there’s a Holiday Inn somewhere around here that shows NBA games, and might show NHL games as well.

SJ-Calgary game 1 is on Sunday the 9th at 10 PM Munich time, and game 4 is Sunday the 16th, also at 10 PM here. Gotta find a place to watch one of them…

You could break down and phone the
embassy or the Canadian club, see if either of them have ideas.

The Canadian Club has no idea either...but you're right the consulate might be a good bet. Although they're Montreal Canadians fans...poor guys.

How about this; does anyone know the names/URLs of the sports networks they show in the pubs here? (
Premiere? etc.) If we can find out who’s showing what when, we can at least ask intelligently at the various pubs if they can show it or not.

I might wake up at 5am or something to catch part of the game on internet radio (
www.nhl.com or I prefer

I'm there...
With any luck Game 4 will complete the sweep and send the Flames to the Stanley Cup for the 1st time in 15 years!

Outland.
QUOTE
Sunday nights are usually quiet so we can show.
Starting 9.30 - Highlights and hockey news direct from ESPN.
Followed at 10pm . Sharks and Flames go to Saddledome for best of seven series to decide who gets to play for the Stanley cup.
Tell whoever is working that its on channel NASN
Cheers Rick (Outland)
I will certainly be there.

I would willingly host stanley cup games in my house IF i had sattelite tv. Does anyone have any positive leads about a place to watch the finals?? This is ridiculous. In 1989 i was able to watch the finals live in a New Zealand pub, we've come along way in tech since then!!! There must be a way.
I visited
The Canadian Lounge off of Frankfurter ring, of course being curious about it i had a meal there hoping they had canadian style pub food, or hockey games on tv. nuthin. pretty disappointing actually. The story goes that the owner once had a Canadian girlfriend ...yes, it all makes sense.

Would anyone know where there is a sports bar that would show NHL hockey games? In particular the Leafs. If you dont know who the leafs are then dont even bother responding.
It would be great to watch a leaf game with CANADIAN commentary beacause, no offence to all you Americans out there, but the US commentators do not have a clue when it comes to calling a hockey game.
GO LEAFS GO!!!
By the way for all of you that are going to say that there is no hockey season this year, thanks for the update, but that is old news. I am interested in next year!

There will be no NHL next year either.
But, if the league does start again next season the options in munich are basically which ever bar has NASN, and then it depends on which feed NASN is taking. Sometimes its the canadian feed other times the US.
Thats the best your going to get

You could be SOL for next year too the way it's going! But if it does start again (and I hope it will),
The Arc is probably your best bet. They get NASN, so if it's on that, they can show it. No idea if they'll have Canadian commentary, you have to watch it to see what feed they get.

We'll show the Ice Hockey at The Arc next season if the strike ends.
As far as commentary goes - Try not to be too picky. Be grateful that it'll be available for viewing at all...
Just as an aside. An Ice Hockey world cup will be on at the end of the month. It seems that there was just one on a few months ago...Anyway, we'll be showing games at
The Arc from the end of April

You're in a country halfway around the world from where the games are going on... Ice hockey, particularly the NHL, isn't amazingly popular here. Sorry, but you really can't be that picky.

hahaha...good one...I find it quite ironic that they are able to show some crappy MLB baseball game, i mean considering we are half way around the world as you said...but for some reason (probably due to a lack of technology

) the possibility of showing a NHL game lies outside the realm of possibilities.

You are pretty cocky for a young newbie.
The other North American sports often have to deal with British commentary when it's broadcast on Sky.

Apr 14 2005, 4:08 pm
Actually, they can show NHL games as well as MLB games...
And showem is right, we have to deal with halftime commentary from British announcers for NFL games. It's not the best, but hell, I'm just happy to see the game.

We can show NHL games - provided they are on. Our coverage comes through NASN. I believe that NHL is also available through Premiere.
I would guess that (as I haven't seen any because of the strike) that NASN will have US commentary and that Premiere will have German commentary - maybe dual US.
Once you've lived in Germany for several years deprived of your favourite sports, you'll be grateful to be able to see them whatever way they are packaged, whatever time they are broadcast - and whoever the commentators are...
