I will not watch another NHL game as long as I live. I will not drink another Tim Hortons coffee as long as I live. I will not tell the truth for the rest of the day.

Aside from the Irish and Aussie bars mentioned back in the 2004 days of playoffs, anyone know somewhere that might show my beloved Canucks' games, or any other NHL for that matter?

Maybe if we ask Hazza really nice...the Arc???

Oct 4 2005, 9:11 am
Yes, we will show Ice Hockey if there's a demand.
Unfortunately our receiver is broken where we get NASN, but it should be fixed this week sometime. After that - no worries!!

The guys who runs the Arc pub told me they'll be showing NHL games, but I'm not sure from when. I also have long list of Streaming TV which I will check through post the interesting ones by this weekend, although I doubt if you'll be able to get live NHL games.

NASN gets live games, but The Arc needs enough people and interest to show them. 3am for a regular season game during the work week might not garner enough business for them to bother.
Yeah, Hockey night in Munich! So, we have to bring our PJ's on a saturday night to the Arc then!

This ROCKS!!!
And I thought only the Moosehead and the Beaver in Paris were crazy enough to show live hockey games at that time of night.
So, how does it work with the games. How do they (NASN or the Arc guys, whoever actually chooses) choose which games get shown? What feed is it? I know it's wishful thinking, but will we get to hear Bob and Harry, and Ron and Don? Likely we get the ESPN2 feed or something, right? Dammit!
Well done Arc!!! See you on Saturday night... but isn't it 1am here for a 7pm EST start?

Oct 5 2005, 12:14 pm
We get NASN. I have no idea who will commentate, or how they pick the games to be shown. We've only been open for just over a year, so with the strike last year, have shown no NHL yet.
The policy of the pub is that we will stay open as long as we have enough people there drinking. On weekends, we generally stay open at least until 3am...But if there are 20 people watching a game at 3:30am on a Thursday morning, then we'll stay open for them.

If Harry can get the NASN UK feed...then you get the real 'Hockey Night in Canada' with Cherry and the rest of the boys.

The first game (Toronto vs Montreal) starts at 7:30am Sunday morning and the second (Vancouver vs Edmonton) at 10am. That's what the NASN site says anyways...I could go for breakfast on Sunday at the Arc if they're open at 7am.

And truly Canadian to tell you that you have to be in full view of the chesterfield in order to call it.

Hockey wooo!
Sens vs. Leafs tonight...
Any ideas how we can actually get to see these games? (i.e the ones NASN isn't playing).

Can you guys record the games that are outside "business hours"?
Hazza
Oct 6 2005, 2:15 pm
We can...
Let us know what games we should tape and when you would come and watch/
I'll be there for any Leafs, Canadiens or Senators games (Toronto, Montreal or Ottawa for you Brits).
Will eat at least one big messy cheeseburger with fries and multiple big cokes/beers/margharitas/etcs.
That said, if you want to change your menu to really bad, stadium-style-re-warmed-frozen-pizzas-and-barely-warmed-hot-dogs-and-too-expensive-beer
like at 'home' then I will eat that also.

@Hazza:
I see no footy on Sunday in the afternoon, so if you guys find a way to tape the Leafs game and replay it around 2pm (give or take 2hrs), I'll be there to help Timmy put away some beers, burgers and fries - and will try to bring other customers with.
(Where's my Gilmour jersey when I really need it!)
Hazza
Oct 6 2005, 4:33 pm
That's Montreal v Toronto, right?
It looks like the game is replayed at 8:30am. I'll set the vcr for that game.
Anytime Sunday afternoon should be fine. We open at 1pm, and it has to be done by 7pm, because the NFL and baseball (if anyone's interested) start then.

That's great. From what I can tell, it's starts at 7:30BST (which I beleive is 8:30 Toytown Time as you say). I'll be there shortly after you guys open, by 2pm at the latest.

Leider bin ich in Venedig am Wochenende.

Hey Newfie, I may drop by on Sunday afternoon... since our Thanksgiving dinner is cancelled.

why don't we schedule a Turkey with some TTers? I can cook it...

Any chance we can combine the Turkey with the game... then you're talking! Not sure I've got time to do the game and the turkey as well on Sunday. Would really love to, but have some things that need doin this weekend.
If it's going on, though, I'll try to sort something out to free up the time... maybe I'll tell the others I'm running the Marathon and can't do anything else that day... HA!

Yeah, he's out indefinitely (at least 4-6 weeks) with a broken orbital (or something like that). And O'Neill might be out as well after trying to go shoulder first through the post. Good thing for them they canned the Baby-Leafs in my hometown and moved 'em all up so they're all in TO... let the injury call ups begin!
So I'm hoping it's all set then, tomorrow 2pm at the Arc, Habs vs Leafs part 1

I just spent the last hour programming the Hockey Night in Canada theme song into my mobile! If you've got a Motorola go to Sounds->[New iMelody] and type this in under Notes:

Go Leafs Go! I'm out of touch for a week, and all of a sudden the Leafs are on a streak, the big "E" is pottin big goals easing the loss of Sundin, and McCabe is on a tear...
Any chance that the boys down at the Arc can tape the two leafs games coming up this weekend? I'm out of town, but would love to be able to stroll in on Sunday/Monday evening for a look at the Leafs-Flyers and/or Leafs-Bruins.

See how we go.
Last time, I got up at 7:30am on a Sunday, so I could go down to the bar to tape a game (There's a problem with programming this VCR - It tends not to work)
Only 2 people showed up for the game. So if the replays are on at a reasonable hour, I will tape them. Otherwise, I need some guarantees of a good attendence, to make me get up at some ungodly hour again...

Last night, after taking a wrong turn and walking for what seemed like forever, I finally found The Arc with every intention of watching the Flames destroy the Edmonton Oilers. Entering, I received an enthusiastic greeting from some totally intoxicated, ever-friendly Aussies and was asked for my name. "My name is Katherine and I came here looking for Hockey" I replied. At this, one guy turned to a fellow and said "I think she's looking for you". After an exchange of puzzled expressions, the guy went back to minding his own business so I asked another one of the boys at the bar if they thought I might find Hockey there. Another bloke responded "Nah, I don't think he's here". I explained that i was looking for NHL and finally saw the light of recognition, so was delighted when the bartender came to my aid and put the game on the little TV in the corner. Now happily watching the game and enjoying a cheeseburger, I also had to laugh when another one came up to me later and -staring at the screen- asked with blank expression "Is this ice hockey?".
Are there any other Flames fans here? I figure i must be the only Albertan because who would miss the Flames vs. Oilers???
