Hi,
I have a relative that was recently stationed in Germany with the USAF. he has informed me that American made used pickup trucks are in demand in Germany, especially Chevy 4 wheel drives. I fix up and sell Chevy trucks, and would like to communicate with anyone that can confirm this, and would not mind providing me with reliable information as to special requirements I would have to meet in order to provide buyers with pickups.
Thank you for your time!

You can research prices on mobile.de and autoscout24.de. Keep in mind that the prices include a 19% VAT (that you would need to pay when importing a truck) and that there may be tariffs that apply. Probably something like 2.5% or 5%, although I'm not sure about trucks. In order to register the truck you would need to certify/change certain equipment. E-code headlights are a biggie, you need an emissions cert, E-code tires and exemptions for safety-relevant equipment that doesn't carry an E-code (belts, glass).

As far as the market goes for US trucks in general, there was a BIG market about 15 years ago and those who were able to invest and provide the services i.e. conversions customs and TUV paper work made good money, but, like everything else some people caught on to it and the market was overfilled. Not to metion in Holland and Belgium were it has been even more popular than in Germany. Now a days Germans ai'nt to crazy about filling up 4 wheel drives at 7+$ USD a gallon so more and more are converting to natural gas etc. or diesel.
Just to import trucks and trying to sell'em ai'nt gonna get you rich, you need some contacts here to provide you with the services to convert the lights over, customs, TUV (German Reg/Tags) and marketing. Sure there some customers out there but the market is tight right now, of course these ai'nt your typical car buyers so it needs to be a destintive model V8+5spd, lighting, Daytona etc. that's what alot of German's like to see and now thar they just starting showing the new Knight Rider series on TV with the new Shelby Cobra Mustang so there's probably some German's drooling right now and trying fiqure out how too buy one .
