Man's dog finds dead infant along Munich's Isar River

The Local
A man's dog has discovered a dead infant in shrubbery along Munich's Isar River, according to the city's police.

The man became suspicious when his dog remained in the bushes for a conspicuously long time around 2 pm on Tuesday afternoon. He then found the tiny newborn wrapped in a plastic bag, a police spokeswoman said.

There are no clues as to who the mother was, but police said they believe the baby was not there for long before it was found. Whoever gave birth to the child probably did so somewhere else and then abandoned the baby near the river, they added.

Sad, but common. At least the poor little thing didn't have to grow up unloved.

We have abortion and adoption to solve that.

I assume the mother is mental. I lived in a bedsit next to a woman who killed her own daughter (shortly after I moved out) and she was indeed totally mad.

We do not know what was going on in the mother's mind. Often the mother suppresses the pregnancy until the baby is actually born, then all she wants to do is get rid of this foreign object that her body has rejected. I am NOT condoning her behavior, I do wish that women in such a situation were more aware of support systems.
If and when she's found we may get more information.

It may be common but it still appalling.

I am quite aware of that. You miss the point entirely

It is worth noting that Germany has anonymous baby dropoff locations

I find it hard to believe that somebody couldn't be aware of the possibility to simply drop the kid off into some Babyklappe or to give it up for adoption. So I would rather think it's some weird reaction to the hormones after giving birth. You find it in the animal world too. It doesn't happen as often as one thinks, obviously as soon as it does happen it immediately makes it to the news. I still think it is very uncommon. Feel sorry for both baby and mom.

We will never understand as to why some people do this to their own child. They can bring the babies to the orphanage or get an installment loans to save the babies but rather they choose to just drop the baby anywhere and leave it dying.
