Bavarian restaurants with cheap eats

Where to get dishes for less than €6

Some people in the past have mentioned a place doing a deal where the food is all under 5 or 6 euro. I can't seem to find the thread though and don't remember what restaurant this was.

Thanks for the help!

Donisl, right on Marienplatz, has all main meals for €6,95. Not bad food either.

The Hofbräukeller (Wienerplatz, near Max-Weber-Platz) often has deals like that. Full meals for 5 €. Someone was talking about it in the Tuesday Drinks thread I think. I am not sure the deal is on all the time but I think it happens quite often. I took a visiting friend there and it was quite nice.

Another place with good food on the cheap (and cheap lovely beer too) is Unionsbräu, also near Max-Weber-Platz.

Last summer the Hofbraukeller (near Max-Weber Platz) was doing dinner for €5.- , but I'm not sure if they're still doing it. It might still be trying to keep the prices down though. I haven't been there in a while.

Blimey! We seem to think alike!

The Hofbraukeller €5 deal is on until the end of April. From the 1st of May they are offering some good beergarden deals, like €3 for a Mass.

Donisl food is OK for the price and - dare I say it - if I have visitors who want the "Bavarian" experience I'd take them there rather than the Augustjiner on Neuhauerstr!

Plenty of places have special offers, look at the adverts in the TZ.

I can recommend "Thai Magie". They have this deal: Pick any starter and any maincourse, pay only 6,95 Euros for the lot. Doesn't matter at what time of day you go. The food is good, not overwhelming but good. If I were to go and buy the ingredients, prepare it myself etc. I wouldn't get away with less than 6,95. Really fair. You will find them at Hohenzollernplatz (Schwabing) and across from the Viktualienmarkt. I prefer the one at Hohenzollernplatz. The drinks are fair as well.
Happy munching,

The food at the Augustiner Bräustüberl is pretty cheap from memory. Can't remember exactly how much it is, but for drinks I know a Mass of Helles costs around €5

Anyone heard of any special holiday deals on meals?

There are loads of places with offers and meals for approx. 6 euro...just open your eyes and look around!

The hofbraeukeller on Wiener platz has a deal on at the moment where all main dishes are 5.55 from memory.

I assume you're not asking about San Francisco, so it would be useful if you updated your location or at least said in your post what Munich neighbourhoods you're interested in.

As mentioned above, many restaurants have daily lunchtime specials for around €5; the best one that I know of is Schwabinger Wassermann.

Many places (Bavarian or otherwise) have €5.55 or €6.66 menus at lunchtime: Sendlinger Augustiner, for example, has them on weekdays (they include soup or salad, main dish and coffee or dessert); the same restaurant has a "Schnitzeltag" on Saturdays, when the different kinds of schnitzel (Wienerschnitzel with potato salad, schnitzel in mushroom sauce, and so on) all cost €6.66. I'm sure lots of other restaurants offer similar deals.

I am a high school counselor in Colorado. The German teacher and I will be chaperoning 16 high school students to Germany from May to June, 2008. Any ideas on where to eat in Munich with such a large group that isn't too expensive??
