Or journal, whatever

Found someone's journal, thick brown cover, unlined rough-cut pages, mostly unused, in the foyer of the Deutsche Post next to Mockernbrücke U-Bahn, Saturday 3rd Oct. To pick it up contact wlcp@gmx.de!

I hope you'll hang some kind of sign in the foyer at the post office as well.

And what makes you think the owner reads TT?

DK, I don't see any reason for that question, obviously the OP is maximizing their lost and found audience. Lighten up eh? What if it was your diary?
Darkknight
If it was mine, I wouldn't be asking about it on an internet forum.. Was there any writing in it? Was it in English? Even if it was, given
the large amount of english speakers in the area its a good chance the owner is not on, doesn't read, or has never even heard of TT.

I'm sorry, but if the OP wanted to be of any use to the Diary owner, they should have turned it over to the people at the counter at D-Post
where it was found. Most people when they loose something will backtrack their steps to find it. Now that the OP has removed the item from
the location, there is no way for the Owner to get it back. (Unless they put up a poster at the postoffice, which the OP never mentioned doing)

@JennyH, take the book back to the post office, and hand it over to the people at the counter. You could also give it to the local lost and found office.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to give something back, but for peets sake people use your freak'n head.

DK, I don't see any reason for that question,
It was the first question that popped into my head and that was before DK posted. The number of negs tells me that the system is being abused by "we all know who" and the ones that need to lighten up are "we all know who". Neg me all you want, but DK's comment fits perfectly to the random post about a diary. I guess if I posted that I found a piece of lint and wondered if it belonged to anyone here then I would be looked at as some kind of hero and that anyone who questioned my motives for posting would be given negs as well. DK's post is no different than Keydeck's "search you piece of shit" posts.

I applaud her. She attempts to find the owner on germany's LARGEST english speaking web site. She does not have to answer to anyone. We do not know the story behind all we know is that she is making a little attempt to find the owner.

The heading is clear: "Found a brown diary". Did you lose one?
The location is clear: Do you live in Berlin?

If the answer is "no" to the above questions - what the hell are you doing reading the thread?

Unless you are bored with your bank-holiday Saturday evening and just want to be jerks - which you are.

If my memory serves me correctly people have posted about lost items before. Sure, it is a shot in the dark, but it certainly does not deserve to be put down by you eejits.

Maybe that explains why people have rated you down.

This rating system is full of bullocks. Do we now cater our comments to the popular vote? I love pressing the damn button just cause it is there and I get instant gratification. The more gratification I get the better. It is that simple.

Well, to each their own. I rated them down because I found their posts to be unhelpful and unnecessary.

Seeing that the rating clicks are restricted I try to use them wisely .. hahaha.

Thankfully we've got a TT member from Karlsruhe to maintain the integrity of the Berlin section.

Just last week NYCLabretts found a cell phone in a metro station with English texts so he posted here that he found it, and he was basically called a dumbass by numerous people for not turning it in to the metro authority. That is an item where once he removed it from the spot he could still find the owner.

People are just giving common sense advice on this thread, which shouldn't have to be region-specific. Turn it in! But, the person who lost it has most likely retraced their steps and since no one turned it in they will never be reunited with their brown-covered book which may or may not contain English. A tragic end to a blossoming relationship based on one's innermost secrets.

As they say, Bohemka. Birds of a Feather ...

Advice is good .. why be shits about it?

Just like this post and the minus rating I just gave you. However in my defense, you actually deserve to be spanked!

Soooo, how long is the line for this?

Last I looked, it was going around the corner and down the street.
