Hi all-
I need to get my freelance visa renewed next week and am not sure if I have to pay the 50 euro every time it gets renewed. My last visa was only for 6 months as they didn't like my health insurance. *groan*
Also as a question to those out there- to those of you with private insurance- did you need dental or not? I know it's up to the crazy whim of the beamter, I'm just curious who did need it and who didn't. If you were a girl, did they require you to have pregnancy cover?
I wish they could just have an agreed set of rules for this...and stick to them. Last time I had the most nit-picky chick on the planet- while some of my acquaintances have had absolutely no problems with less insurance than I have now. The amt here in Berlin seems to be so....*tears out hair* INCONSISTENT!!

I renewed my freelance visa a few months back, and paid 30 euros for a 2 year visa. I have private insurance, and it covers dental, and no, no extra pregnancy cover required - in fact, all the woman at the auslaenderamt did was read the 1/2 page letter from my insurance company saying something along the lines of "We confirm ..."name" ... is covered according to paragraph 12344" where they quoted some German law. She took a copy of the letter, and that was that. No questions about what was and was not covered. Then again, she was lovely, and very friendly, so I think she might be the exception, as opposed to the rule...
Good luck!
