Booking Train Tickets with Gleisnost.de? - Munich

Trying to find a cheap way to Oktoberfest.

I'm studying in Freiburg im Breisgau this year, and a few international students are trying to go to Oktoberfest this Saturday. Unfortunately we didn't reserve seats in a tent, so I'm sure it'll be an interesting day for us. In any case, we're trying to figure out the cheapest way to get there and back, and someone found this website. There are two branches in Freiburg, so I plan to go by tomorrow and check it out, but I'm wondering if anyone here has ever booked tickets through Gleisnost? I'm skeptical when anything is too cheap-- you get what you pay for, eh?

Thanks!

Well you're assuming they'll be cheap, which at such short notice is highly unlikely. At this point in time the cheapest method is the Schönes Wochenende Ticket, although the journey will be sloooow, albeit pretty through the Black Forest and Upper Danube Valley to Ulm.

Dont forget once you hit Ulm the train will be packed going to Munich standing room only in most cases. So do not bring anymore luggage than you need. Best bring just a backpack. Trust me germans and expats like me have no problem throwing your luggage on the floor if it is taking up a seat. Not to be mean just to warn you. Good luck.
