Looking for a workout partner who's a McFit member - Berlin

The Prenzlauer Allee location is the one I go to

ap1
Hey- anyone want to go to the Prenzlauer Allee McFit? I used to go almost daily in the States, but this last month I've been slacking off--good German beer doesn't help. I just get bored going by myself, and it's nice to have someone to spot you. Since I don't have a job yet, my schedule is super flexible. Anytime between 11am and midnight works for me.

How's the prices at McFit?

17 euro a month--you can't really beat it... I've actually been "trying" it for the last month and they haven't made me sign up yet. You bring your own lock and towel, and if you want to take a shower it's 50 cents. If you're from Geramny, they like to sign you up for one year, but they told me I can bring them a plane ticket when I leave and they will cancel my contract. The machines might be a little different than what you're used to--most of them use a rubber belt instead of a steel chain.

Hmmm ok, I might have to check it out. The price sounds really good at least!

Do they have a full assortment of free weight facilities, as well? (Squat rack, for example?) And, do they offer instruction/guidance of any sort? How are the locker rooms and showers?

I'm already using a gym that has issues in some of those areas, so, really I'm mainly curious. My contract is up in early October, so I'm looking around.

@tallison
Yeah, they have a lot of free weights, but it can get crowded. I've only been between 3pm and 6pm, and sometimes you have to wait a couple minutes for a bench/machine to be free. They do have trainers walking around offering tips, and there's some computer system which I think will track progress if you want it to. I haven't really used that yet since most of it is only in German. The trainers that I've talked to have only spoken German, but the girls behind the counter can speak limited English. I think that's worked to my advantage though since they haven't asked me to sign up yet. I would just suggest that you go and try it out. I haven't used the showers (or even seen them--they are in the back) because they cost and extra 50cents, but the locker room is clean.
