Walking with kids in the Alps

Right then,

This a little advice for those who used to hike in the Alps but had to reduce it when kids happened. Buy the book "Wandern mit Kinderwagen" - there's a "München und Umgebung" edition and also a Karwendel edition. I am sure they are in Hugen Dubel.

We've been going to new places as wqe are bored with Denkalm, Schwarzentennalm and Bauer in der Au. In the Karwendel book is this fantastic alm. I can't recommend it highly enough. Nice climb, not bad for the jogger to push and at the top great views and the best food I've ever eaten in an Alm.

Brauneck/ Lengries is also a good bet with little ones as you can fit the buggy in the cable car. At the top you can enjoy the views and a short stroll as well as good food in one of the huts.

The Blombergbahn just near Bad Tölz is also good. You can in fact run up the mountain with a buggy and there is a great adventure play area at the top.

If you are happy to drive a little further then I would most definintely recommend the Sonnenalm. You can either hike or get the cable car to the top. Not only splendid views but this is a great starting point for lots of hiking tours and also for climbing. The hut is great. All kinds of room sizes, perfect for children ( you can sit in the restaurant/bar at night and the baby phone will work from all rooms). We celebrated with friends there this summer and ended up having the whole place to ourselves. Definitely worth a trip!
