Hello all you readers out there!
Are your bookshelves filled to overflowing? Have your children outgrown some story books? Is your coffee table burdened with too many heavy tomes of beautiful scenery? Why not donate these to the Lutheran Youth's annual book sale? All proceeds from the sale go to benefit the church's social projects in Ilembula, Tanzania, which the Jesuskirche Haar has sponsored for the past 21 years. The project has involved creating facilities for children orphaned through Aids, improvement of school and training centres, the development of solar energy, as well as special projects helping women and young girls in everyday life.
If you'd like to donate any books, CDs, DVDs, etc., or would like more information about the Ilembula project, just pm me. Children's books are especially welcome.
The sale will be Friday October 16 from 3 to 7 p.m. Refreshments and baby-sitting services will be available. Having worked on the sale last year, I can tell you that there will be thousands of books available at bargain prices.
Thanks for your help!

Many thanks to all of you who have donated books! We look forward to a very good turnout this year.
If anyone would like to donate books, just PM me to arrange for a pickup.
If you're looking for something good to read, mark October 16 on your calendar.
Thanks!

can you tell me the address of the church, and can we also bring donations along on the day?

Hi Moonboot,
Thanks for asking. The church is the Jesuskirche in Haar. Because that's not downtown, I'll try to arrange another drop-off/pick-up if that's not convenient for you. What part of town do you live in? My boss lives in Laim, my husband works near the Hackerbrücke, and I work right at the Neuperlach Zentrum U-bahn stop. Just let me know what's most convenient.
Thanks!

I forgot to add that donations on the day of the sale are, of course, welcome - but beforehand would be easier for us because the books are all sorted by category on two rooms full of tables. If beforehand isn't possible, then it would be best to come early on the day of the sale so that we could still sort them by category and put them on the appropriate tables.
Thanks!
