Right then,

Before the Croatian wine takes too much hold and the radio 1 techno blasts my ears to oblivion I'd like to suggest the following exit strategy:

1. The Afghans. The first thing they need is food, or money to buy food. They are growing opium/heroin now to afford food. Getting them to either practise sustainable agriculture or permaculture so they become self sufficient.

2. Us. We buy their heroin (well I don't, except for those spliffs I used to smoke years back(which were awful btw)). Get everyone to grow poppies at home to drop the price of heroin to ridiculous levels then wean all off this nasty drug.

3. Our brave soldiers. I'm surte there are lots of fresh squaddies flying out there leaving their bases with Apocalypse Now vids in their heads and Metallica on their HMMV stereos. What buggers it up is a chap offering them friendly tea in a small house just outside the base. Not quite the warr on terror.
